i just complete my biggest of the season. 2 acre wooded lot. bout .5 acre open for the yard, house and drive. actual cleanup acrage was 1.5, wooded... 9 loads removed with a 14 ft trailer with a big net cage over it. its like a big sweeper bag. i back my trailer up to the front pile and usually the back pile as well and blow them straight into it. my 8500 Redmax blows more leaves in a minute than a city vac can suck them. so i load a 40 pile in 20 minutes. pack it and load another 15 ft, pack it once more and load another 15 ft. making it load a total 70 foot pile per load. so that job was around 550 foot pile. haul off and unload round trip took 1.15 hours. 8 hours of cleanup time. total time was around 24 hours. $1,200 plus $300 to gather up all the down branches and sticks... made me one happy camper lol.. 1 8500 RedMax. 1 man. 1 14 ft landscape trailer and my good ol Jimmy 4x4. total rig cost with the 02 Jimmy is about $4,200...its amazing people will put out years of work to pay off their business equipment just to avoid any more "actual" work then they have to. but i am beast with a blower. 3 times faster than any body else and i make sure of it. i see peoples philosophy of buyer a stronger blower so they can work easier. i say "what the hell? work easier just make the blower work harder? how about bot work max speed and both bust ass and get a job done the same speed as a 3 to 4 man crew" ..i remember a client telling me "you know?.. last year the guys did it with a walk behind and a back pack. 2 guys one with a walk behind. and you did it alone and 4 hours faster and charged me $60 more" lol.. i laughed abit and said.. you see who is showing up this year to do the job? exactly. 11 hours for two men for $180. they probably just took up a burger flipping job this winter bud lol (he was feeling bitter about paying 1 guy considerably more than 2 guys lol)

Way cool video. I came here as I was looking at possibly buying a leaf vac of some sort. I take care of my folks yard for em. 1.5 acres. Trees similar to what's in this video. I currently have a bagger, but it's not the best set up. Two bins in the back. 20 trips to dump and I still have a long way to go. Plus the leaves aren't done falling yet. Beats raking though. What I'm wondering is how many times did you have to empty?

This isn't criticism, just curiosity. 1. Are these machines mowing and mulching at the same time? 2. Why do you dump all the mulched leaves in the backyard? Is that typical for every job instead of hauling off, I guess the customer does something with them instead?
@Marksmisfitworld
@Marksmisfitworld 3 жыл бұрын
With the amount of leaves in this yard hauling them away would double the cost of the cleanup. They have a compost pile in the back of the yard that we just dump on so it save them money and saves us time and they also get more compost to use around their property.

Hi Mark, based on your experience with the DR, where would you draw the line in terms of mower weight and power? I've used that same leaf vac and I think with wet leaves it can probably weigh over 1,000lb (maybe 1,200?) total. Shopping for a new mower now and worried the lighter hardware store models wouldn't be able to safely tow such a heavy collector up and down steep driveway skirts.

I was reading the posts and the info on DR Power products #1 the overall reviews suck ,#2 You cant use the leaf vacuum below 40 degrees bc the cheap plastic hose will crack .That per the folks at DR Power .
