Not sure how you don't see the difference between the inner diffuser doing its thing and not having it attached. The inner diffuser's MAIN job isn't to soften the light, it's to break up the HOT SPOT so by the time the light reaches the outer diffuser it's a lot less specular. But I won't lie, dude. You and your wife put so much effort into these videos for us. Kudos to you guys. We appreciate all you do for us.

@jasonbodden88162 жыл бұрын
@@MarkusPix The deflector plate robs of you of about 2 stops of light out the gate. I never use it outdoors.
@MarkusPix2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a deflector plate can lower the light output when used in combination with white diffusion (but so does using a second inner diffuser) Using an OPEN silver modifier with deflector plate actually gives 2-3 times MORE light than when using white diffusion, especially when using double diffusion... and I ESPECIALLY use it when outdoors! I have 2 videos on the subject coming out in a few days. Big difference in the amount of light- much more output this way.

You would love the 36" Glow Parasnap. super light weight, quick change adapter rings, sets up in 1 second and breaks down absolutely flat. Awesome video, thanks for all you do.
@MarkusPix2 жыл бұрын
At 1:46 you'll notice a couple of Parasnaps lying on the ground on the bottom right . I did not like them them and returned them. They are definitely not small. Many of the ones I featured in my video were MUCH much smaller when collapsed. Even though the speeding goes flat, it is still attached and adds length to the already long folded up softbox, and it requires considerable effort to fold it open and lock into place. I also didn't like the bluish color light the parasnaps create. And they are pretty wide also when collapsed because of the heavy duty material. Definitely not something OI consider a lightweight small travel modifier. I like the Glow grand box much more because the speed ring can detach.

@@MarkusPix those look like the 44’s. I have the 36, and I usually have to give it a little shake to get it to open enough to start locking it into place. I also use mine with the Godox mount on my ad300 and ad400. I may need to do my own color comparison against a cheetah box and my ad600. I wonder if funky colored ad300 plus funky colored Parasnap somehow cancels each other out. Anyway thank you for all you do. Time for me do some testing. Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks Markus for your epic insight info on softboxes, part 2. I have owned a godox 32x32 for using with speedlites. Same one you have shown at 30mins 6secs. I also had the same problem with it, not holding the square shape after opening from being folded flat. I don't store it in the round bag here at home. I added pieces of velcro in the corners to stretch the white outside diffuser to this and has brought back the original square shape like new when being opened.

Man, I have never stumbled across a more helpful video. I thought it was going to be insane when I saw the softboxes and papers scattered all over the place. But it was super entertaining and helpful. The one I didn’t see that I thought would be a top contender is the Glow Parasnap that fold up flat as the rod system but still have the fast setup integrated bowens mount if you preferred the round to the square.

Great video as usual, Markus. I've always loved the Elinchrom Rotalux speedring. But not the softboxes really. The system is the perfect blend of the speed of an easy fold softbox and the simplicity and sturdyness of a rod softbox. Recently I just found out that I could buy an Elinchrom speedring and just use the rods (with the tips removed) from my softboxes of choice (Broncolor, Godox etc) and build the perfect softboxes for myself.
