Markus, THANK YOU for taking the time to do such informative, humorous, and helpful reviews of the multiple products you review. I enjoy your presentations, and appreciate that you consider the light output, weights, use cases (showing the light in a dryer), and your impressions of them too. I am a subscriber to your channel, but just added this to help your channel get more views (YT algorithm), and to show my appreciation for what you are producing. Well done!

I use 10 yongnuo yn 360 III at the same time. All connected to my phone to switch colors in no time. You can choose bluetooth channels from 1 - 8 and controll independently or switch all to the same channel and controll all from on light or the app... its so awesome! I use it for photography or summer parties... kind regards

No more 500 Watt hot as hades bulbs that burn out with the slightest bump. Thanks for the overview and as always, your generosity to the photography community knows no bounds. - Jim

I've got a pair of those Neewers and also like them, so I was glad to find out they weren't on the "crap" list :D I have found, however, that running them at full brightness caused mine to overheat after a little while (somewhere around 15ish minutes in my shop). Running them at 9 brightness instead and I never ran in to that again

These tube lights can really work well in places with low ceilings! But they seem to get weirder by the minute. Check what Ulanzi just came out with: an inflatable light tube! Ulanzi UA12/UA20 Portable Air Tube Light Only 12 or 20 watts, but they must be light like a feather!

I have a couple of the Aputure Amaran T4C tube lights which I'm pretty happy with, but I thought I'd try the Sirui Telescopic T120PRO tube because it seemed like it would be easier to travel with and more versatile, but I guess I've been spoiled by the Amaran lights because I just wasn't as happy with the Sirui light and I decided to return it. These lights are probably in a different category than what you're showing here but I really appreciate the information, and it's tempting to grab a couple of those little Ulanzi lights for less than the cost of dinner 😆

These are kinda neat but really low bang for the buck. I'll be sticking with my Hyperlites (diy video on my channel) which are basically high performance warehouse lights. They could be powered from battery with a power station, but require 120 vac to function. I don't care so much about size, weight, or portability, but I do care about about performance per dollar! My Hyperlites are damn hard to beat for serious lighting power with such universal adjustability. 28,000 lumens in the palm of 2 hands..... Now that's my kind of lighting power! Cheers 🍻

15:30 the YN360 series is pretty interesting. You can get more power from them by turning all the diodes to 100% (the warm and the cool ones). The 360III is available as daylight or bicolor. I find it more convenient to be able to adjust the temperature but if you need all the 20W in daylight - the daylight version is the one to chose and with the orange diffusor you can make it around 3200K. Both the first and 3rd version are a little fiddly to operate but the first one is more convenient because the controls are illuminated and you can see them in the dark. The 360III is not so great to operate with the remote which is actually detachable. But the 360III can be controlled with a phone with their app better and you can control 2 or more lights at the same time. The YN360 can't work in groups and the phone control picks up only one of the lights and controls it while the other stays unchanged. Which is fine you you have only one light. There is 360III Pro which is the one to get if you ask me because the RGB is much stronger in it. The 360 and 360III are actually almost the same in terms of power output. I like them a lot because they are compact and lightweight and in the same time if you are using them with more than 2m distance to the object they are the same or more powerful than the ZY 60W model. The light is not that diffused and that makes it more focused than the others. I find that to be more useful.

I have the older model there were two versions one being daylight only plus RGB and the other being bicolour plus RGB. There were some quality control issues. One of the lights was slightly warped, but perfectly functional I found useful was the app. One thing that you could do was connect a couple of lights to the phone and control them both simultaneously and once everything was linked up via the app, you could close the app and then the lights would stay synchronized which meant even if you had one light mounted up high, where it was harder to reach, if you were using it at the same settings, any adjustments you make to Light apply to both. Unfortunately, I had two daylight only units and one bicolour unit and the bicolour unit being an older model would not work as part of a set with the newer units and that meant I could only control the one unit by itself with the app or I could control the other two units but not all three. There was a lot of Chinese in the app, which made it very difficult to use

@@5857521ManitobaInc I had problems with the 360III Pro - one of my lights had problems with the remote. It is not responding sometimes, or it is changing the settings by itself. I am using the phone app and it works... Overall I can say that the 360 first version was better build. Also the case was better, I can carry more stuff, the III version case is much smaller and not so cushioned like the older model. I had the first version for years - they were perfect. Everything worked great and there were no problems with them.

been using the yn360 light for a a few years already it is very solid. first off it is bicolor and and can pretty easily switch between warm leds and cool leds. (I found it to me mush easier to use and less fidly than the yn360II) as far as using the rgb being difficult to switch, there are 2 rgb modes one is more complicated where you have to slowly scroll through the full spectrum of every shade of each color or if you press the rgb button again it will switch to easy rgb mode where you can quickly scroll through basic rgb colors. That being said, after much research and comparisons, I recently upgraded to the yn360 Mini a few months ago and it is a great light for ease of use and easy color temperature adjustments on the fly, plus it has the magnets..

Great video. I'm curious to see what kind of jerry-rigging techniques you've used for lighting and other things in a pinch in the past. I have a portable power station and used LED bulbs in a clip on table lamp with gels taped to it. Also I've used an LED headlamp with a blue red strobing light to simulate police pulling someone over. Worked pretty good.

interesting, i did have experience with the YN360. some photographer use this to light up the cosplayer and he let me tried onece. it's great ! I mean, just hold it with left hand and the camera on right hamd. now we can see exact light that hit the cosplayer ! not much different with other light but when it tall, it more reach and easy to handle ! anyway, i still use my old school way of mannual flash Godox TT600 on my top of the camera just because i don't have money to buy the tube light yet. At least the Flash itself can get the job done though Lol. Eventhough i have a flash trigger but i don't use it because i can't adjust the exposure while holding other thing in my other hand, mainly because of the way i hold the light that not great for ergonomic kind of thing

Sorry Markus, I believe you are wrong about Zhiyun Fiveray F100, it is 50w bi-color light, but 100w at 4000k, so it can't be less powerfull than 20w Godox 500 mini tube. I've just tested it vs Cinepeer cx100 with white diffuser, and it has completely equal exposure at full power. I've got mine on a Black Friday Sale, as a kit with power supply, for 130 euro only
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix 4 ай бұрын
"with white diffuser" there you go. That silicone white dome dramatically cuts the power down. The F100 has diffusion also. I was testing the brightest scenario possible for each light. The X100 has a bare exposed COB LED with a small focussing reflector creating a bright hotspot which a diffused long stick of equal wattage could never match.
@log0log
@log0log 4 ай бұрын
@@MarkusPix I would newer buy led panels or sticks with open diodes again, as they create ugly stepped shadows. Diffused long stick compared to diffused COB light to serve the same purpose - to give defused soft light from larger aria. Reflector and hot spot are a different story, reflector with diffusion dome vs bare bulb - 2/3ev difference only. But, question was - how 20w led stick is measured brighter than 100w ?
@MarkusPix

With a light meter.
@log0log
@log0log 4 ай бұрын
@@MarkusPix I understand that. But 20w led can't be brighter than 100w led, it means that smthng is wrong either with the lightmeter or with the measurement procedure. From the official websites: Godox 500 mini - (4200k)1320 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m Zhiyun FIVERAY F100 - (4000k) 2300 Lux at 3.3' / 1 m

You show a different type of light in each of your videos. Do you think there is a need to have so many different varieties? When I look at people who shoot videos and photos, they mostly prefer lights that contain softboxes. The remaining part prefers LED panels. I haven't come across many people who prefer lantern-style or sword-style lights. As a KZbinr, what do you think are the types of lights I should have for my studio and outdoor shooting? I always applied the 3 light rule. The main strong light is the low light and the hair light is used only when necessary, and that's it for ambient lighting. So what are your suggestions?
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix 4 ай бұрын
I agree, but these silly tube lights are so popular lately because people always think the latest thing is the greatest thing haha so they asked me to make a video about them so I did. I personally will probably never use them. And I hate lantern lights omg I just shake my head. As for studio vs outdoors, those are two completely different scenarios. yes softbox is great for indoors, but outdoors, there is wind and even more importantly, it all needs to be portable and lightweight to carry it all to the location, so I am always looking for the most portable lightweight, compact setup possible and I usually end up using hard light with no modifiers outdoors and yes 3 or 4 lights
