You need a signature line with one of these companies. You’ve got the practical production knowledge of what does and doesn’t work plus the bonus artistic sensibilities and chops that could probably create some pretty cool form factors for this category of small lights.

I saw your first video on the Molus and I agree. I ordered the Ulanzi you mentioned in this video for my wife. She wanted something portable to use in the living room while doing her online school. Once she started using it, I couldn’t resist trying it out… I ordered two more for me lol😂. $35 a piece and they work great.

Markus, I sure wish you would give a complete list of products in the description. You are holding up many items of interest, some of which I might want to buy, but I don't know what they are called or the make/model numbers! If you linked to them, you could make some money, so I'm surprised that you haven't done this. For example, around 3:43, you hold up two wide (long?) panel LED lights and never give their names! I have been unable to find these in the internet marketplace.

I am using "strip" lighting for my green screen, the cheapest lights of all which are 4' long LED shop/garage lights. They work great around the perimeter of my green screen and only cost about $50 bucks for 6 of them. But they also make the green screen look edge light, which it is the way I have them configured currently around the outer edges. But then I have a cold spot right in the middle of my green screen and that's why I was considering these lights. I also have a regular 100w key light through a 36" Godox modifier. There are videos on my channel which show my set up. Google blocks all links anymore, so I can't post them here, but my latest video shows my exact work space. I also have a lighting video which shows the custom lights I made and everything I'm currently using. But it's the cold spot in the middle of my screen that I want to fill with more light, and small but portable is a must because of my very limited space. Cheers 🍻

There is also an advantage with a battery on an extension cord. I like it. When the light is on a lightweight tripod it is less top heavy and also the weight of the battery at the bottom of the tripod keeps the tripod even better balanced. The other thing is that when someone walks with the light he does not get a lame arm because the lamp is less heavy and he has the weight of the battery hanging on his belt.

Markus, I totally understand that you don’t like separate power boxes and fuzzy wiring. But there may be one reason when it’s beneficial: When you don’t want the additional weight of the power box (or battery or whatsoever) at the top of the light stand. You can then attach it to the bottom and this may even help to stabilize the stand. What do you think?

It would have been good to compare it to the Godox 60W studio light for the light amount they produce. That also only has 60W written on it. I don't think the main use the Zhiyun lights would be the travelers lighting. In fact you are the only video maker that I see using light when outside on a trip. And it's visible, therefore kinda unnatural. The small lights are mostly useful in small studios where the huge stands necessary for heavy lamps just become a hassle. Counterbalances and what not. It's much easier to setup these plus the already available Bowen type modifiers can be used.

Your suggestion Mr. Markus about the changing the Branding/Logo/Name of an device because the consumers will get confused with how it's 'named or worded', has validity. Part of the problem is that the global suppliers (98% whom are Asian), already are challenged with translating 'anything' into English. For example, read any instructions (if there are any in the first place) has wording that confuses one more so than instruct us on how to use. I feel your frustration though with your rant.

Hey man, since you own one, I wonder if you can help me out. I will TRY not to write a book here! I need to get better with lighting. I aim towards a cinematic/film aesthetic and lighting is currently my achilles heel. I'm also going to be travelling soon and doing a lengthy interview in a relatively confined space. Calmly and quietly looking at this and other alternatives to see if it might be worth me picking one up to experiment with and to take for the interview project. Something that can be used as is, with a simple diffusor, with a softbox. Do you think this one is worth grabbing? Or would I be just as well served by a Colbor (for example)? The small size of this really appeals as it would go into a suitcase. But at the same time, if it's not adaptable enough (even for experimentation) then I should look elsewhere.....

On your original review of the Molus lights, there was a comment that said your work was biased against the product. I thought the same. I'm 1:25 into this video and you are complaining that the powerbank/USB cable powering option is a pain because you have a cable hanging out and have to deal with the battery. I've seen other reviews of yours (other lights) where you tout the option to run from a powerbank as a plus point. It's this sort of thing (and the general ranting energy) which makes it seem like you have an issue - potentially with the company, since you are able to pronounce other Chinese brands without a problem. Maybe you're miffed that they didn't send you one? I don't doubt that you know what you are talking about when it comes to gear. And I am sure your subscribers are fans of yours and will have no problem with what I've mentioned. But from an outsider's perspective, this is how it comes across.

I gave away all three of my Stella Reflexes ($600 apiece) which are MUCH smaller and lighter than the X100 and twice as bright because they also required a cord and external USB battery. I also gave away my Colbor 60M and X100M kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWrFfml3a96dgNU because of the dangly cords. So I am NOT biased. I don't hate Zhiyun, I have two Zhiyun X100's, one G60 and three M40s and I give my honest personal feedback on what bothers me about everything, no matter the company or product. I don't want companies to send me stuff because I want to be able to say what I want from personal experience. I can buy anything I want and enjoy the freedom to explore and give real world feedback.

I bought the Zhiyun M40 and it has better value for half the price. The no-battery is a real killer.

Not really when it only last 30 mins on full brightness and takes 2 hours to charge! If you do real photography sessions or record, 30 mins will never be enough time!

@@Samiam-mu5ln Usually one wouldn't be running it on full power that often. And maybe one can also have a spare battery or two?

@@adamadamis keep in mind that the accessories such as the battery grip and modifiers are not sold separately (at least as of right now) so if you plan on getting another battery grip, you will have to buy a whole other unit and the kit that has the battery is $349 USD which is still heavily overpriced for light output! It's honestly a very tough purchase realistically when there are other lights that output more and cost less 😬

@@Samiam-mu5ln I'm sure you'll soon be able to buy batteries separately. And everything Molus will probably also become a bit cheaper. That said, I'm not a fan of proprietary batteries, and the particular design doesn't match the X100 shape or style at all.

Question is, are you looking to stay a bedroom streamer that does nothing else? I love his videos but he is not teaching you how to make your videos look the best or helping you learn what you can do with these lights...
