I bought an xm8500 a year ago and I was super impressed with the sound of it the mic punches above its weight class

Amazing microphone for such a low price. I got four to use live and couldn't believe the build quality. Nice to hear it compare so favourably to a much more expensive mic.

I've been researching the xm8500 for a week now. It seems a little compression/limiting and mild eq can adjust for any frequency differences between it and a lot of the much more expensive options. Pretty sure I'ma grab at least two of these in the near future.

Thanks for your review. I've just ordered a Behringer for £19.80 on Amazon UK and it will come with an amazing case! I 've just watched another review where the Behringer is compared to a Shure SM 57. There were some blind tests and I liked the Behringer better every single time. I thought my ears were very untrained as the guy there criticises the Behringer and thinks the Shure is much better. But. your review " closed the deal". My ears are not as bad as I thought. Incidentally, I don't know if you will remember, but I had a problem with the Deity pocket wireless and my iPhone as I couldn't monitor the audio but I found a solution, a Rode adapter that lets me plug the Deity to my iPhone and has a port for headphone!

I have some 8500's. Great mic for the price. Agree that the 945 is slightly crisper but I find the 8500 more natural sounding (listening on reference headphones). Regarding price theres probably parameters not associated with sound quality that make up the asking price of the 945. Like durability, handling noise, EM shielding etc. I did notice that at 12" the 945 sounded less distant but that could be differences in polar pattern. Nice review, thanks.

The XM8500 is on my 'to buy' list for recording percussive sounds when looping.

I work in a radio station. The XM8500 is by far the best. If one wants a high frequency nuance, one can slightly lower the lows.
@Dragon211 Жыл бұрын
It sounds the same to me, but I suppose if you are in professional music recording etc and having a more expensive microphone is needed to get the perfect record sound.

I'm looking for a couple of cheap mics for lugging around to record people who don't have mic skills and where they could be dropped, rather than transporting my more expensive mics; NT1 (which is my preferred mic) and PodMic (which is my son's main mic). The Behringer XM8500 sounds just fine for random voice recordings where audiophiles are not going to be judging the audio quality. If the content is good, the mic is good enough.

Hi! I’m currently using a Behringer XM8500 microphone, and I’m debating whether to buy an M-Track Solo or a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen as my audio interface. I’m aiming for clean, noise-free audio. Which one would you recommend for long-term use? Or should I consider upgrading to the Shure MV7 instead? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Olá! Parabéns pela análise. Já tenho um Behringer XM8500. Por favor, você conhece algum microfone sem fio, de baixo custo, semelhante ao Behringer XM8500 em qualidade, para indicar? Agradeço se puder responder.

Great comparison and review! By the way, what audio interface did you use? Wanted to know if a fethead would be necessary for the Behringer for podcasting / VoiceOver. Many thanks!!!
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
I had both mics plugged straight into a zoom h5, the XM8500 has a hot enough signal, you won’t need a booster. But the cheap foam covers, really helps with the plosives.

@markwiemels2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s what is made for! Sennheiser makes great mics too. So it’s really just personal preference and budget.
@SAGE19912 жыл бұрын
@@markwiemels yeah senheiser makes great mics too..but xs1 has the same budget so i dont know i should buy this or senheiser xs1 or shure sv200?? These three are budgeted mics as far as i know..but i dont know which should i buy..so if you can choose which one will you choose??..(not budget consideration) just for a quality..which one will you choose?

nice review. dam you need more subs. BTW how is the xm8500 with noise cancelling? I had a fifine condensor mic but I'm heavily considering swapping it for the xm8500 as it picks up my controller clicks(ps4). Any thought?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
I have the fifine mic, xm8500 is much better and it isolates the voice very well.
@robertsteinberger56672 жыл бұрын
There is also something like a mic that exposes your voice so its only for good singers and one that doesnt so much.

Thank you very much for your review!! Can you tell me if I can connect Behringer XM8500 to a Laptop and if yes what I will need. What cable etx. Thanks again and keep going with the good job!!
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need and XLR to TRS cable from memory, but you should double check that.
@acadegenius25613 жыл бұрын
@@markwiemels Thanks for your reply. I watched in a video and it says you can do it with XLR to USB. But the quality of the converter is important so if anybody knows any quality cable I would be glad to find out.

u talk about the "higher end" but then just use ur normal voice that is probably less then 200 Hz
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
Normal human voice goes way higher than 200 Hz. It’s also not just about the range, but about the level of detailed captured in each frequency range.
@Markste-in3 жыл бұрын
@@markwiemels sry meant 2000 Hz and ur voice has actually quite a lot of overtones up to 5 kHz (With some nice patterns in it :) ). Would just be nice to see an actual to test for higher frequencies. Still a a nice review!

Great video. I have a question to ask which I hope you answer. Is the XM5800 a too quiet mic? Does it require a fethead or cloudlifter to give the adequate signal strength to my recording software?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
No, not al all, when I use mine I set it at about 50% gain, and I just use the zoom recorders.
