I was using a lavalier microphone. Cell phone on my camera. I shot around 90 - 100 videos and then the microphone started making noise and I couldn't use it. This happened either after the microphone software update or the mobile phone software update. Because I changed the microphones to new ones under warranty, there was still the same problem. First, I bought the rode wireless go 1, it made a terrible low noise, so I put it aside before I could use it. Then I bought Rode Wireless Go 2 and installed Rode Lavaliver Go microphones on it and used it. I can't use it now. By the way, the internal microphone of the rode wireless go 2 microphones picks up sound very poorly. Even the phone's internal microphone surpasses them. For this reason, it is necessary to use lavaliver go. Then, instead of buying Rode Wireless Pro, I went and bought the Rode NT USB + model to improve my sound quality. By the way, I use my microphones with the type c port. In the future, I plan to switch to a 32 bit microphone.

Thank you for your response. So far Rode and DJI have been recommended. I am curious if you used them for dancing and moving around and if you used them outside or inside. Also, I hope you have a good camera store in your town. The store in my town allowed me to purchase two different mics to try and allowed me to return them within two weeks. They also allow you to rent them to try as well.... Could save some money.

Recently upgraded to a $30 brand new Behringer B-5 and I love it. It's small diaphragm condenser. Sounds fantastic especially for the price.

I am just setting up my channel. This is part of my research. I have tested out (2) different Lava Mics so far. The challenge is trying to mitigate the echo-y sound in the studio. I give a lot of detailed technique instruction so the sound needs to be clean while I speak and demonstrate. So far the DJI has been recommended the most. It is still a little echo-y. I will be able to do a certain amount in post, but I am trying to set up the raw recording to be as close to what I need for KZbin as possible. I you have any better suggestions that would be great.

Hi Mark. Actually I use an Audio Technica At2020 for my talking head vlog. A friend could give me an old RODE NTG, in your opinion which would sound best for a fixed position, desk blog?

What about using add shotga mic connected to a wireless transmitter to not have to run a cable back to the camera, but still be close to the source.? Would you be losing any audio quality?Doing that?

Great video, Mark. I find it funny when creators say audio is 50% or more of your video and then turn around and invest in cheap mics. Great content. I have really enjoyed it.

What type of microphone do you suggest for someone creating a dance instruction KZbin video in an empty dance studio?
@EwanLim
@EwanLim 10 күн бұрын
i would advise on recording a voice over for the instructions, then record the dance separately to use as cutaways. Alternatively, depending on the dance genre, a wireless lavalier microphone would be great (like the Rode Wireless Go). Because of the distance between you and the camera while u're doing ur dance, a shotgun mic on the camera might not be a good idea. Previously for tv-shows, we would just record a Voice over separately. Since that gives us the best audio.

Good video. So u have a newbie question worth a good mic like these does it plug into your camera still ? If not what does it plug into and how do I bring my audio together. Thanks for the help
@markwiemels
@markwiemels Жыл бұрын
It's and XLR mic, so you need an XLR interface (which allows your computer to record the audio) or and XLR recorder. (which records the audio for you) Then you sync the audio file with the video file in editing.

@markwiemels ok I have a zoom livetrak L8 but I thought the mic plugged into the camera. So I need to get a small recorder correct than sync audio.

The problem I have is hearing the breath intakes. I never paid attention to it until I’ve noticed it in my own videos and now I feel cursed because whenever I watch any video on KZbin it’s all I focus on now. Like your video right now… Is it something I should ignore and not let get to me or is that a big deal to people and if you yourself have struggled with this did you lower the gain on those breath intakes in post or did you just leave it? I ask because I want to know if I’m just special and should even worry about that or not. Do people even care hearing that?
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 5 ай бұрын
Common issue. You can either leave it or use a plug in to remove it. I would not burden yourself and just focus on making good videos right now.

Mark, always enjoy your videos. Since this mic is in the same price range as Rode NTG 5, I was wondering if you have an opinion on which you would prefer.
@markwiemels

They are both very good. NTG5 has more low end, and eliminates background noise better, this mic has a bit more clarity and detail. They are both very good mics.

I have the NTG 5 as well, and should have some comparisons in an up coming video. From a quality perspective, I would say they are on par, I think from an Audio perspective it would just come down to personal preference.

I like this one - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKC2k2yueLaJic0 but it might be above the price point. The MKE-400 is also good. I do like the Rode mics, but sometimes those capsules can't handle the really loud stuff, and you can get distortion.

Hi im just starting my youtube channel I was wondering if its better to have a chest mic and a standing mic out of the shot like u do. I got a cheap usb mic novox nc-1 from my brother but it sounds horrible. Im not sure if its the acoustics of the room, or the placement or if it should sound bad and I should be good at editing😂 what do you think? Should I just improve my editing skills or just throw it to the garbage and get a more expensive mic? I dont know the difference between a cheap and expensive mic so I was afraid that ill buy a new one and it will still sound bad because of sowmthing im missing? 😂 Ive looked everywhere. Please let me know what to do if you may you would bebmy life saver. I just want to start my yt channel and keep on making vids but not spend lots of money for now. 😅
