What I love about Mark is that he’s a great father. A lot of people who get fame on the internet and have children, they end up shoving the camera in their kids faces but Mark is just doing what he loves with his family and they are just in the background, not being forced to be on camera. They just happen to be there because Mark wants them to experience everything with him. You’re doing amazing, Mark ! These food tours are so good to watch and we love your family’s adventures !!

Hi Mark, Its Davish from Mauritius! I've been "following" you since your first videos. I have learnt a lot about the food and cultures of the different countries in the world through you. I had that 'special impossible' wish of exploring the various food around the world and i am able to discover it through your videos but without the 'taste'..... Am very glad and very proud you visited our Paradise island and appreciated the local food here. I must say the creole cuisine is a must for every food lover. Unfortunately, i didn't know you were here so close to us else i would have met you. Julien has done a great job by showing you so many unique Mauritian cuisine which you cherished.... though there are more you can still discover but i know there is a time limit. 7 days not enough to explore all the food and culture Mauritius! KEEP IT UP. in one of the videos i can see your son really loving Mauritius and the fishing trip (which is rare from the videos of other countries). I will continue to watch your next videos. I really liked the ones when you were in Turkey, Italy, Malaysia and special mention to the episode in Syria. Al da best. hope to meet you one day ...

1:53:21 Speaking of quick result fishing.. My dad has taken me and my siblings for northsea fishing on a professional fishingboat a few times. These fishingtrips are organised by retired fishermen I believe. The very 1st time we had absolute perfect conditions, calm sea, good weather etc. They give you a fishing rod to use and there's 5 hooks at the end of the line. That 1st trip we each had 4 to 5 mackrel fish within the minute on these lines 😅 sometimes even within seconds. I don't think my dad and our neighbor, that was also tagging along, had time to throw out their own lines, as they were busy, nonstop, helping us reeling in those fish, as it was to heavy for us with that many fish 😅 In the end they even had to shut down catching early, as no one had anticipated catching that many, so didn't have the means beyond a certain amount to even store and take the fish home 😅 Also, you're expected to gut and clean your own fish on the boat. They have like a sink running along half the back of the boat, with running water to do all that. The fishermen will collect the guts and dispose of them (or whatever they do with it, I don't know 🙈) Never done that in my life, up until then ofcourse, but after the initial "ew" 😅 me and my siblings got into it and had them cleaned in no time. Pro tip....(!) Make sure, like 500% sure, you store your fish on sufficiant ice, but most importantly in air and water tight containers! If you have to transport them in your car. (Unless its the open back of a pick up) Guess what daddy dearest didn't do? Guess what eventually happened to the car? (I think they were happy it was already an older car and it had done it's duty with almost 500k (kilometers) on the meter. The GODAWFUL smell was the only reason it didn't actually make it to 500000 kilometers. 🙈🙈💀

Mauritian cuisine is a symphony of flavors, a tantalizing blend of Creole, Indian, Chinese, and French influences that dance harmoniously on the palate. Each bite tells a story of a vibrant culture, where every spice, herb, and ingredient carries the essence of an island steeped in tradition. The aromatic curries, succulent seafood, and delectable street foods like dholl puri and gateaux piments are an unparalleled sensory delight. Mauritius isn’t just a destination; it’s a feast for the soul. If you’ve tasted the magic, you’ll know exactly what I mean - if not, you’re missing out on a gastronomic paradise!

Similar to Dal Puri is something called as Sattu paratha in India and particularly from the state of Bihar. Most Trinidadians, Guayanese are basically form Bihar. The ancestors of the current population of Indian origins all were brought from Bihar during the British rule to work on Sugarcane fields. a lot of cuisine we find in Trinidad, Guyana and Mauritius have their roots in Bihar. Sattu paratha which is an almost exact version of Dal puri is made from roasted and powdered chickpeas. the powdered chickpea is mixed with herbs and spices and stuffed in small balls of unleavened dough, rolled and cooked on a Tava or a skillet. Even the famous Trini doubles is a version of Chole Bhature again a chickpea based curry with fried flat bread. Sattu is a protein packed ingredient. sometimes just the Sattu flour is mixed with buttermilk and drank. very cooling during summers. Chickpea in any form is a very high protein Vegan food.

Really great video by travelling around the island. Only the one tasting the food knows what fresh fish taste like, what the best biryani in the world taste like, the mix of spices (Indian-European influence) like the vindaye or the octopus curry, the boiled noodles with dumplings and the authentic dholl puri, just incredible. There is so much more in terms of food in this island! Food that you won't find and where else in the world (Fruits, vegetable and sea Food). Yet to be explored other regions/cities, yet to be experienced the full culture of Mauritius and and and yet to be tasted the most authentic food on the Island.

Hey Mark,I am so happy that you are enjoying the food in Mauritius. You have been to Madagascar too!You should go to Réunion Island, the Island sister of Mauritius. You will find similar food in La Réunion, my native Island, there is also varieties of food, such as Rougail or Cari, and from the four corners of the Réunion Island, the diversity of food is different in each area.So from the North to the South, and from the East to the West of Réunion, The Rougail or Cari will be the same basic cooking but definitely different ways of cooking I highly recommend you to go there, and enjoy the food as you already are a food traveller. La Réunion is a place not to be miss, and a must try culinary experience. The nature of Réunion is also beautiful, many places for hiking, swimming, and lot more to explore. Mafate,Cilaos,Salazie are some of the places that you must visit if you have a chance to go to La Réunion.Keep doing your food travelling, I followed you since you start vlogging.❤❤
