I've had the pleasure to try Hanwoo beef on several occasions and it truly is better than wagyu, which is originally a cow from the Korean peninsula. Hanwoo isn't exported so many people do not know or understand how good it is. It's far superior to the mostly all fat Kobe, which you can't eat a lot of because it's too fatty and rich. Hanwoo is much more meaty and with it having more meat content, you can actually enjoy it and appreciate its beefy characteristics, while being uniquely succulent. Hanwoo is the best beef I've never had. It's remarkable.

You don't have to eat a5 wagyu...i'd bet the lower grades with less fat would be similar to the best hanwoo. hanwoo is just a domestic breed of cattle. quality and taste would depend on its grade.

The most impressive moment in the video, for me, was the respectful and thoughtful manner in which Mark very discreetly stopped the filming while the owner was asked about his own beef preferences. Mark's good natured decency is every bit as apparent as his charisma on camera. It matters...
@kflo76965 жыл бұрын
Unlike that bald-headed guy, egotistical fat guy on the Food Channel...after I discovered Mark when he had a few hundreds of subscribers, I stopped watching that fat dude... keep it going Mark🤙🏼
Devan Calistyo I can (explain), as it was my comment that spoke of Mark’s respectful good nature. The dude sitting next to Mark blurted out the question, asking the chef if he still liked eating beef. Blurting that out on camera caught Mark off-guard, and Mark obviously (and rightly, in my opinion) didn’t want to put the chef ‘on the spot’ and set him up to answer a question that Mark never intended on asking. Mark was a gentleman. Mark didn’t ask the chef that question. The other dude was a bit crass, and Mark clearly didn’t see the need to tape that segment. If that was an important question, Mark would’ve asked it himself. Mark understands nuance and erred on the side of decorum. The other dude put the chef in an awkward position. It may have not been a big deal for the chef, but Mark is mature enough not make assumptions, so he snipped the chef’s response. That is what I meant, when I stated (9 months ago) that Mark is a naturally respectful fellow.

People are so hung up on this fad of Wagyu but don't really understand how good Hanwoo is and what makes it so much better. ."Wagyu has highly intense marbling that is very fatty and melts in the mouth, but is oily and lacks a strong beef flavour. Hanwoo is very tender, has good marbling and has more beef flavour. ... “Wagyu beef has a ratio of 70 per cent fat and 30 per cent meat, whereas with Hanwoo it's about 50-50 or 60-40." This yummy beef flavour actually is better than Kobe Beef Wagyu etc .. The stronger beef flavour actually really adds to the flavour and i think shits all over Kobe

I've studied Asian history for many years and have spent a lot of time connecting the dots to obtain the most accurate information, with including interviewing very old people to get the real perspective from those who lived through wars for example. It was an honor... So regarding the who cow debate here are the simple facts, along with some other historical facts: (This can all be verified and validated, although quite honestly most of it is very common sense.) - When looking into Asian history, it's important to recognize and refer to those regions by the name of the dynasty of the times. - Millions and millions of cows were stolen from the Korean peninsula (modern day Korea's / dynasties of the time) and brought to jpn. The cows that exist today in jpn are originally Korean cows from that region. There are no cows that originate from an island; therefore, it is very common sense that the cows that exist in jpn had to come from somewhere, which is from the modern day Korean peninsula. - Many people confuse jpn culture as being unique; however, the reality is that jpn culture, language, alphabet etc are all adopted and/or stolen from modern day Korea and China. That is just a simple fact: 1.) jpn kidnapped and forced many people from the Korean peninsula... blacksmiths, potters and architects to practice their art in jpn under duress, which is why you see a lot of the resemblance in the design etc... Korea was known for their fine pottery and it's still even recognized today as being among the best in the World. The western world has been brain washed of all the samurai swords, temples etc... that exist in jpn as being theirs, when in reality it's actually a Korean design, engineering and art in many ways. 2.) jpn has been heavily scrutinized for altering their text books to eliminate any wrong doing, which has misled people into becoming ignorant to the truth. They've went to grave lengths to alter reality in order to create an identity and to simultaneously cover up the truth of their history. This is why you always see them refer everything as "japanese this and japanese that," when in reality, there's nothing really original about what they claim to be theirs. 3.) When jpn sold out to the west, it gave them weapons and such to have the wits to try and conquer Asia, which is why Asian countries today despise jpn for what they did. The truth is, jpn is very weak and only thrived for a short period due to western help. The banking system, internal financial infrastructure etc... are all installed by western corporate conglomerates, which is why there was a short period in recent times where the economy thrived. But who talks about sony anymore right? What's sony? - Instead, S.Korea has surpassed jpn in so many ways with only third of the population to what jpn has. In today's time people buy Samsung, LG etc... It's not the 90's anymore. 4.) jpn is known for copying other countries, in fact, they have been crowned by many countries to be the biggest copy cats in the World. It can be looked at as a form of flattery, but the mistake here is that jpn copies something, then claim it as their own unique creation. That's just wrong and very misleading. Kids growing up today in jpn, never get taught the truth so they grow up being the most ignorant people to even their own history. See the chain reaction? It's dangerous, not ethical and just flat out wrong, yet they silently go on to continue this fraud, which is only degrading their very own existence. 5.) Here's a shocker that most people don't even know. Brace yourself. Sushi is not even original to jpn. Eating raw fish, fermented fish, vinegar rice etc.. is not original to jpn. The origins can be clearly traced to modern day SE Asian countries on up to modern day China and evolved into its varies forms that we know of today. In short, consuming raw fish was a fad in the originating regions, but faded out after food became more abundant. Consuming raw fish evolved in modern day Korea and jpn to what we recognize as sushi today. It's just something that jpn embraced, because that's all they really had in abundance being an island nation. I guess you could call it their one and only claim to fame, when in reality it's not even original to jpn. They've just popularized it so much and have brainwashed the western world to associate eating raw fish to only jpn, which is extremely false. Many countries eat raw seafood. Here's the kicker, many people from jpn visit S.Korea to enjoy the finest seafood. How about that irony? 6.) jpn even goes to the extreme to try and claim what is distinctively very Korean, Kimchi, as their own by calling it kimuchi. It's absolutely pathetic and a clear example of how low they'll go to continue in furthering their cultural theft and attempts to manipulate the western world. Go verify for yourself. Walk into a western store that sells small jars of kimchi like wholefoods and take a browse. You'll likely see a jar that says, kimuchi, japanese food. It's a complete joke. 7.) S.Korea and Taiwan has surpassed jpn in so many ways and this can be seen from who produces the finest electronics in the world as an example that powers pretty much everything in our daily lives. From the very computer your using filled with Korean and Taiwanese electronic goodies to most of all the tech that you enjoy on a day today basis are mostly from S.Korea or Taiwan. Of course, a lot of parts are made in china etc... but the point here is that it's not the 90's anymore. Look at the rise of Korean dramas and Kpop etc.. from a country that has ~50M (S.Korea) people vs 150M+ (jpn), this is one example of how much more talented and skilled S.Korea is compared to jpn. 8.) jpn has brained washed the western world to think all these brave kamikaze pilots were brave jpn men. The sad reality is that the majority of them were Korean Men that were forced under duress at the cost of the evil jpn killing their families. Of course jpn will try and deny that like they do with everything else. The truth will shock you. It's all very so simple. Connect the dots and it draws a very clear picture. jpn is not what we think it is as it has been artificially inflated with the help of the west to be something they really are not. All of this is clearly showing today as they are falling rapidly. As the saying goes "sooner or later the truth will reveal itself and the true colors will be shown." I encourage everyone to shy away from altered text books and to do your own research by seeking credible info from credible sources. Use common sense while doing it and you'll be extremely surprised how what you have been indoctrinated with differs from reality. Ex. I've always joked that you could even get a trained chimpanzee to recognize where the cows came from in jpn lol. It's not that hard... An island has limited resources and cows sure as heck did not originate from an island. On that note, this is the same reason jpn wanted to conquer all of Asia, but failed. They do not have much resources and depend on other surrounding nations to survive. Bottom line, Hanwoo is the original prized cow that jpn stole from the Korean peninsula and try to claim it as their own, which is comical.

Interesting comment to me, as a Korean myself. Sure, Korean Hanwoo cows being the original and stolen by Japan to make their own Wagyu cows doesn't seem too far fetched, but most of the other things you mentioned just seem pretty hard to believe. One thing is if that Japan really just stole the best of ancient Korea, why didn't they also steal Korean archery then? The Asiatic reflex bow is an impressive weapon used in the far East by us Koreans all the way to the Mediterranean area from Mongols, Russians, Romans, and Turks. The Japanese stuck to their asymmetrical Yumi bow and Kyudo tradition, something Korea would have deemed as primitive in all aspects of warfare. So why didn't Japan take this? Also pottery. Japan in their ancient past with the Jomon did not use our Korean glazed pottery. They used primitive pottery with slips, focusing more on beautiful and mesmerizing physical details. Sure, later on in modernization Japan used glaze, but they didn't adopt it early from ancient Korean-japanese conflicts and relations.
