@@kas789 Well Karen and Burmese both belong to the Sino-tibetan family (not Thai/Tai). The original aboriginals of Assam/NE are also Sino-tibetan like the Bodo-kacharis (Boros, Dimasas, Chutias, Koch, Moran, etc), Mishings and Karbi. So, it is obvious that the cuisines of all these groups will be similar as they branched out from the same ancestors.

Wow!! Amazing! What a way to cook….also astonishing how similar can be the ways to prepare food here in Mexico, the chili dip for example just like here roasting the ingredients (tatemado) and the way of macerate things and so far away! Thanks Mark for showing this and let us travel with you…..

I am impacted by the result, when I clicked on the video, I thought that they will serve some vegetarian dishes, but no, serve a complex food with ingredients very different from each other. I love the connection between Mark and the people of the tribe, these people seem very pleasant, they cook with love. To help to cook the dishes gives other focus to the video because I don't believe that the motto of Mark "I travel for food" be literal, I think that he travels also to understand the different customs, ideas, and ideologies of many people. Travel stimulates the experience to learn, admire and respect other cultures, developing tolerance, compression, empathy.

I believe I can adapt easily living among the Karens. Their lifestyle and cuisine look almost similar to some mountain tribes in Borneo I'm very familiar with. This is really an eye opening experience for me. If only I could visit this place one day.

Well Karen people belong to the Sino-tibetan family (not Thai/Tai). The original aboriginals of Assam(as well as NE) are also Sino-tibetan like the Bodo-kacharis (Boros, Dimasas, Chutias, Koch, Moran, etc), Mishings and Karbi. So, it is obvious that the cuisines of all these groups will be similar as they branched out from the same ancestors.

So great to see you featuring Karen food on your channel ! Love what you are doing. We are a small charity that supports schools and medical clinics for Karen Internally Displaced People in Myanmar and refugee camps in Thailand. Our team consists of Karen and non-Karen people. When we visit the Thai-Burma border our Karen hosts are always so hospitable and friendly. We have had so many delicious meals made especially for us by people who have had so much adversity in their lives. but are always so welcoming. Thank you for letting people know about amazing Karen food and hospitality.

I am captivated by Mark and his explorations. I can't really explain it yet, but I can accept it with gratitude. I seem to learn so much about the food, the culture and everyday people. This is quite a revelation to an old man who thought he was settled in his ways. Thank you Mark. You have reintroduced me to myself. And, for some reason, I have become concerned for your health and well being. I want you to get yourself thoroughly checked by some great doctors. I am sure that I am being just a "worry wart", but my instincts are screaming to me about you.
