For me, this is the Thailand I want to immerse in. I want to learn of the northern mountain communities and a different way of life. A more simple life closer to the bounty and goodness of the land. Thank you to the people of the Mae Hong Son province for letting the world visit your village. In the last year, I've learned to cook Sticky Rice in a traditional Thai steam pot and basket. I even was able to score some dark purple Thai Riceberry Rice from my local Asian market. Next, I need to toast me some sesame seeds and use my mortar to make this rice paste. I have Palm Sugar I think I can use rather than dark cane sugar. Again, thanks to the Karen people, and Mark for sharing this story.

Indeed! I grew up in Laos, and these types of scenery and tribes were only a 30-minute drive from the city, i was real lucky to be able to expericence all this at a young age! Laos is a lot more rural and is very similar to Thailand, the food in the two countries also very similar but the Thai have more of a sweet tooth. I MISS SOUTH EAST ASIA 😢
