Gorgeous gel mani Marla and just the inspiration I needed, it’s been a while since I did a gel color block mani. You also reminded me that I have a pack or two of those same striping stickers - yayyy! Also, I can’t remember if you mentioned this, but for gel polish newbies, cure times depends on the brand and even different gel polish finishes within the same brand. So always check the bottle or the brand’s website. Some recommend curing for 30 minutes (like the gel Marla uses here), while some recommend 60 seconds or more. That’s a great point about the gel cure times! I’m a huge advocate for contacting the manufacturer for any questions about cure times, lamp types or wattage ❤️

There are a few different components that can cause an allergic reaction. Hema is one, but acrylates are another. You may have an acrylate sensitivity.. if that’s the case, most HEMA free won’t work for you. I’d suggest light elegance gels. They’re hypoallergenic. You can find them on thenailhub.com 💞

Beautiful. I have some questions on the color blocking. When you use the swipe solution to clean up your line, doesn't that remove the tacky from the gel base? Does that affect how well the second color adheres to the base or cause any issues with lifting?

I'm very new to DIY gel nails. You used the Swipe product on a brush to remove the polish from your nail (to make the line). Can it also be used to remove any polish that gets on the skin around the nail? I'm finding with darker colors that if I just use an orange stick there is still color on my skin. Thank you.

I have! It works well! My only complaint is that it causes the first coat of dip base to dry SUPER fast, so I’d recommend apply base and let it dry. Then base and dip. I have found this to be the case with EVERY peel base apart from UNT. But yes, it works great!
