@DaveGift85 Simply because he is uneducated on this topic. I'm hoping that he's going to understand that the point of an interpreter is not because it's woke or politically correct but because there's an actual need for it. My email bounced back, unfortunately, so I might just have to write a comment on his channel. I personally have my own preferences. If I'm watching something on TV, I prefer captions rather than an interpreter because I find it easier to see what's going on in the video. But in person, I prefer an interpreter because they're better than live captioning. Every Deaf person is different. I have a strong grasp of English. This is not the case for many Deaf people. I use hearing aids, but not everyone does. And not everyone gets as much benefit from hearing aids as I do. We're all different.

Unfortunately Charles Kirk podcast fuels the widespread misconception that "American Sign Language (ASL) = English in sign language" which ASL is NOT. Further ASL has not written language so closed captions is worthless for the ASL users. It’s time he educates himself and stop perpetuating this myth!
