Let’s not forget it’s mentioned in part 1 and a little bit in part 2 he was a hunter who use to kill innocent ppl and tortured ppl for things him and Tommy needed. And Marlene was friends with Ellie’s mom and took care of Ellie since a baby. It wasn’t Joel place to make a choice over someone he doesn’t know. He killed Ellies friend Marlene (which was said by Ellie a few times in part 1) was killed by a emotional person.

Marlene acts so much different about all of this in her scene with Joel, that you can f***ing see that the part II stuff was never initially planned. Her levels of empathy differ so much when you compare her in both I and II scenes. It is ridiculous. Abby's dad was never initially planned and neither was Abby. It was just some random nameless doctor back in 2013, when the game released. This added on bulls**t for part II is terribly unfitting to the story and the characters of the first game and it is evident all too well that it was made up just to murder Joel. Out of all the other ways to kill him, they had to pick the one that spits on the first game's story, characters and their meanings, characteristics and backgrounds + that creates a senseless and unimportant playable character arc out of that whole situation. 7 years for this?! Get your s**t together Naughty Dog, you can do far better than this. Neil let the wrong people influence him and it resulted in this. He's already regretting it deep inside.

Well, to be fair, a TLOU sequel was never intended in the first place. Years ago, Naughty Dog initially stated that they had no plans to make a sequel at all, and that if they ever do, they would need a really compelling plot to do so. After sooooo many fans' requests, Naughty Dog finally gave in to their pleas and decided to give fans what they wanted ---- of course, how well this played out is up to you to decide.

The problem I see which players don't like is Naughty Dog trying to show players that Joel and Ellie can just be anyone. Both weren't the "Good guys" they did what they had to do to survive. People hate Abby for killing Joel but I hope people realize what Abby did is what Ellie is doing. Players are attached to Joel because they played him yes, however Abby and her father could had been Joel and Ellie too. No one in the game is "The good guys".

I also want to say that Abby's group was right and actually have humanity in them. They spared Tommy and Ellie because they wanted revenge for Abby's father and only that. Her group didn't need to let them live after killing Joel to make sure there's no loose ends, but they did because they aren't savages who attack innocent people. They did what Ellie is trying to do to them but on Ellie's part she is killing the ones who spared her even though they have reason in killing Joel.

The recording Ellie found in LOU2 said that it would not have made a difference if they found ellie or someone else that was immune because Jerry was the only person who couldve made the cure. So maybe Marlene could have been spared because she didnt want them to kill Ellie at first. She probably didnt know Jerry was already dead either when she confronted Joel.

@@arksredemption937 how justified abby's actions is irrelevant. Even if Joel was just a straight up bad guy, the sympathy for Joel was established way before Abby. And then to make Abby kill Joel before the game even attempts to make Abby likable is a huge mistake. The game doesn't fail to make Abby's actions seem justified, but it does fail to make the viewers care about Abby as a character. I care more about Bill as a character than Abby, that's saying a lot.

I’m sorry, but this game is just a pure failure in story telling, it’s honestly ridiculous because in the first game you can clearly see how determined Marlene was to put Ellie through the operation that she believed would make a vaccine, and where as in the sequel Marlene is more uncertain and insistent against the doctors option in killing Ellie. It’s so stupid how the characters have been completely altered from the first game to supposedly make you feel “sorry for them” that’s the whole idea behind the concept of this game, understanding everyone’s perspective to making you grow some form of pity for all sides even if it means turning against the characters you love. It’s absolute bullshit. Joel is still to this day one of the greatest characters in gaming history but completely destroyed by bad writing, him and Tommy would have not just walked blindly in to the hands of strangers and made such friendly offers to restock and resupply.

Also one detail i like in the Tlou1 is that there is a lot of deserted buildings like the Building Joel went with Tess and Ellie had a Ton of dead bodies from the time of the outbreak and it was packed with Cordeceps and Decaying structures . How are they gonna rebuild from All the dead bodies who may turn into Cordeceps Zombies?( Joel included can be a Zombie( He also could have been bit since no one checked his body) since they didn't burn his body and u remeber playing rdr undead nightmare and People were coming out of graveyards.

Naughty Dog has made a lot of bangers over the past 20 years, but what they've done with the second game just can't be forgiven. It's set in stone.
