Hey Nutn', my son has an XT. With CCI Stingers his will hold .75"-1" @ 50 yards. That's the best we have achieved with that rifle so far out of six loads. My Model 60, believe it or not, will shoot .5" @ 50 yards(ideal conditions) with the Minimag HPs! only load that it will do it with. Most loads stay in the 1-1.5" range at that distance. Great vid brother!

Brings back some memories. My first rifle was a Marlin Glenfield .22 bolt action, back in the 70s. I think it cost about $40. It still groups under 1.5" at 50 yards if I take my time.

Got an XT22 and it shoots amazingly. Accuracy is amazing and the laminate stock looks and feels fantastic. Put decent glass on top and a budget UTG bi-pod and couldn't be happier. Thanks for this and many other reviews! It helped me greatly in my purchase decision. I hope to see more political videos in the near future. Living in NY its nearly impossible just to find a place to shoot this high value 22. Thanks again!

Just got my XT-22TSR, stainless, tube fed today. Had to wait a long time but It will last decades. It will join my older model Marlin 60 Tube and a very accurate 795. Best value in a rifle today, period. Get one and take the money you save and go buy 10,000 rounds of .22 and have a nice day! You are a tribute to the community.

Great review. I bought the XT-22 with the gorgeous laminate stock at my local Dick's sporting goods. Amazing rifle. I love shooting this thing. I put a super cheap 4x scope and am nailing quarter size groups at 25 yards at my local indoor range. This is with cheap bulk ammo.

I have a 925R North Haven. In the argument between tubular magazine and detachable, even though with the detach you're limited to 22LR, I don't shoot anything else anyway.. But for the RANGE the detachable is SO convenient, when the buzzer goes off you gotta have your mags out or empty, tube rod pulled out or detach mag out, and action open, on the table, hands off. You don't have much time to get it done and get behind the yellow line for the target check period. Unloading a tubular mag is awkward, rather difficult and they spill all over. It takes time, and you're all over the place extracting the rod and trying to dump them all out. I wanted the detach if not for any other reason, more fun at the range. Pop it out, action open, on the table, behind the line you're done. Perfect!

Live in the UK, am about to get my firearms licence, thinking of getting this as my first rifle, was going for a 10/22 but tend to like shooting with bolt action more, and after this review, think I am sold! And yes have seen both parts of the ruger 10/22 review, several times.

i got one yesterday and i can verify that anything remington has done with it has made it better. its exactly the same as my old 925 but with the better trigger. only difference i can feel is the safety is a little less smooth but it seams to get better with use. and the bolt on all of these rifles gets smoother with a few hundred workings.

Thanks again Nutin'. Just had around a 50 min. conversation with my dad after seeing this vid. Of course, I held my ground at saying that the .22 long rifle is the most accurate rifle EVER ;) I have literally shot a fly at just about 60 yards with a .22. Yeah, yeah, maybe a little luck with that one, but I did it none the less ;)

Pre-submission edit: I was going to ask why DuraCoat the checkered rifle and leave the laminated stock poly'ed...but now I get it. +1 on it being an EXCELLENT starter gun. My dad bought me a 25N as a kid and my little brother got a 925 when he was old enough. Lots of Saturday afternoons recycling aluminum cans. Glad my bolt has enough polish on it to back up the memories. Keep up the awesome work.

I bought a Marlin 22 mag. back in the 70,s, not sure but perhaps the 92/94 model with the MarFinish. I considered it accurate up to 100 yds. At 125 yds and above, bullets were spreading out too much for my liking. I stripped the MarFinish off and re did with Varathane -- what a difference, The wood was Walnut to my surprise. The ammo could have been the issue at the time as I used mostly Winchester HP's. I had to shoot a wild dog once at about 30 yds/perfect broadside. It dropped like an anvil legs spread out and all. Seems like the new Marlins are even more accurate. Thanks for the update.

Awesome! Marlin's been pumping out rimfire sweetness for years, and their flawless design hasn't changed much. I dig it. Great reviews. I love that duracoat, by the way. I'm not the biggest fan of coyote tan (like someone who's vids I watch) but I really dig that "flat earth" color. That's pretty sweet. You know what 'they' say... "If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, dura-coat it." Haha. I could punch holes for hours with my Marlin too. Huge smile! :D Great review, Great gun!

I got lucky at the gun show this past weekend. Scored a 925 w/ scope, LNIB w/ soft case, for $200. As the XT-22 is allocated, and has build quality issues depending on time of manufacture, I'm smiling over this purchase. (And just to tweak Feinstein & Co., it was a private sale. Neener.)

@nutnfancy Im still shooting my Model 60 .22,Tubular magazine....Its been 25 years since I bought that at ...oh God..Woolworths..(pretty sure)..but I can remember the day, the excitement and the mall and my buddy talking me into getting a scope. At 16 years old that additional $20 was a HUGE amount of money....How could I have known the utility and lifespan of that purchase. Thanks for the memories. I want to go shoot my Marlin!

Personal preference - He glazed over the XT-22TR versions which are tube fed versions. Ability to load shorts, longs, subsonics, or 17+1 long rifle cartridges. While you spend your time loading 3 clips into the XT22, I'll just keep plinking with my tube fed model. In my opinion, I can load a tube faster than I can load 3-4 clips. The stainless steel 22TR has the better sights, but you can always order them and replace the standard sights. I just wish they'd offer a nice wood stock though.

Got the 981ts as my first rifle, shot many others but if i'm laying down the cash I wanted something I could shoot to death forever and it fits nicely. Shot well over 10,000 rounds so far and in my experience its roughly 1MOA if your careful. I've almost always shot it at 100 yards or more, can hit quarters at 100 consistently, bottles at 200. Slap a bipod and a scope on it and you can do long range training easily. Really looking forward to tech-sights! Great review!

Excellent Video. I agree Marlin makes quality products. I already have a Marlin 60 and 795. Excellent rifles that outshoot my 10/22. I have a stainless, tube fed, XT-22 on order. Also excellent for pest control are 60 gr Super Sniper rounds. Built on a .22 short case. Excellent round!, but will not cycle an action. So I need a bolt gun and another Marlin is in my future. You can never have enough .22s.

@tbrowniscool I would definitely agree personally, I think a .22 can be very lethal with shot placement and with many shots I think it could even have stopping power, but the biggest argument against .22 is that it really doesn't have stopping power for the "crazed assailant". I've done some tests on .22 penetration. Can easily go through several inches of wood at 200 yards, goes easily through a 4x4 at 20 yards. In my experience it definitely has sufficient power to be lethal.

@corneredfox No problem there I think you are confusing gun systems and I've never "always seem to argue against the weapon having a safety." It really depends on the gun. Anytime I have a light trigger pull in a pistol, I will opt for a safety of course. Like 1911. But for more modern DA/SA like Glock or Sig I say they are obsolete. In rifles they are wholly appropriate.

I bought a YHM Mite suppressor but am still waiting for the paperwork to come back from the BATF... Also bought a Savage 64-TR-SR and Savage MKII-TR-SR... both of which are also impressive performers but no better than the Marlin at 50 yds.

I spend more time loading and prepping brass than I do shooting by at least 5x. I love precision bolt guns! I may get a marlin xt22 to shoot while I'm waiting for the barrel to cool on my centerfire. (If you wait 20-30 min between shots not only will you be practicing "cold-Bore" which is what counts- But your barrel will last twice as long!) Most guys just don't have the patients.
