Got my 2024 xtr today and just ordered the 28x10x14 GBC Grim Reapers. I do 70% trail, maybe 30% or less mud.

I just picked up the same machine and took it out on trails this weekend and feel the about the Zella’s but for me the front really seemed to understeer in more spirited corners…I’ve heard good things about the grim reapers so I may have to try them out.

Nice videos. The trails remind me of the ones in Newfoundland (Canada) Lots of trees, puddles and loose rock. Gotta check out the GoPro setup you have. Thanks.

Newfoundland trails are on my bucket list. I'd love to ride up there at some point. I use a gopro Hero 11 with the media mod attached to just a basic helmet chin mount. For audio I used a lavelier microphone that I hot glue to inside of the chin guard and plug that into the media mod. The Hero 11 has a fantastic stabilization system.

@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq we have so many trails here. The abandoned railbed is on my bucket list. Around 900kms (550 Miles) which stretches from one end of the province to the other. Thanks for info on your GoPro setup. I'll check out the Hero models.

I have done everything except for the valve adjustment. The only reason why I haven't done the valve adjustment is because the weather is still pretty cold here in MA and I don't have an inside garage or shop to do it. I bought the tappet tools though. Looks pretty easy. As far as everything else goes, I did all the other scheduled maintenance myself and it was very simple. I did replace the diff and engine oil plugs with new plugs and washers from goldplug. They are awesome and have magnets integrated into the plug to catch metal shavings. I also switched to Amsoil oil for the engine and diff fluids. I have used nothing but amsoil on my 2018 Tacoma and have had zero issues in 150k. Good luck and reach out if you have any other questions. Matt

What’s going on with your handle bars? Are they just riser bars or?? Also I’m waiting to pick up my 2024 grizzly. One thing I’m having a hard time researching is can I take out that light in the handlebar pod and replace it with a Baja designs pod? What’s your take on that.

The bars and risers are a kit from rox speedfx. It's so much more comfortable than stock. Here's a link to the kit I bought. It's actually currently on sale. roxspeedfx.com/products/yamaha-grizzly-700-combo-kit-2019-newer As far as the front pod, I couldn't tell you if another light would fit. I haven't tried that.

I’m looking to get these to replace the zillas on mine. Are they heavy, bog it down, make the speedo way off? Size isn’t much difference height wise I assume from the zillas that come factory.

Hi Jacob, there are definitely some tradeoffs with the Reapers and it really depends on your riding style and where you ride. I did not notice the machine being bogged down. For me it accelerates way faster with the reapers because there's so much more traction. The negatives are the low speed steering which is very much negatively effected by the Reapers. It is quite difficult to steer at low speeds due to the shape of the tire but I would say beyond 3-4 mph it's not noticeable. The diameters are very similar so I doubt there would be much difference with the speedo but I have not confirmed with with a gps. My guess also it the larger tires and more grip might wear out bearings and bushings faster as well. For me I plow a pretty big driveway in the winter and use my atv on lakes for ice fishing. The Reapers are amazing for this, especially on packed snow because the width and shape allows them to float much better on snow and slush. Hope this helps.

How do you like the Rox speed fx bars and risers?? I just got mine in but haven’t put them on. Do you find yourself reaching too far forward or are they comfortable?
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq 4 ай бұрын
I love them. They are very adjustable. I had them a bit too far forward for the first few rides but I've since moved them back a bit. For me it's a good balance between sitting and riding standing, which I do a lot of. One thing to watch out for is it moves the controls farther out due to the wider bars. At full turn it will pull on the throttle cable a bit and can be a bit scary. I took the grips off and cut the bars down by and inch and that went away.

How do you like the tie downs your using on your trailer? Just picked up my 24xtr.
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq 10 ай бұрын
I like the functionality of those tie downs a lot. They are very easy to put on and get off. That said, I would go with the same strap system but go with the e-track rails so you have more adjustability. I will likely remove those yellow plates and install e-track rails so that I can tie down the atv either farther forward or farther back ont the trailer. www.etrailer.com/E-Track/etrailer/e42VR.html

The gps you see in the video is just my iPhone. It's mounted using a quad lock handlebar mount and quad lock case. It's an awesome setup. The handlebar mount has a built-in wireless charger so it's charging the entire time I'm riding. The phone is waterproof but I have an additional clear cover for it anyway that helps.

I've been thinking about it but haven't decided yet. I might invest in some Elka shocks first. The stock suspension is very good but I've heard amazing things about the Elka's.

What is the name of the GPS app you used at Lost Trails in PA. Thank you!
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq

Hi, I used Polaris Ride Command app at Lost Trails. You don't need to own a Polaris to use it. You can download the app and create an account. The map works really well and has almost every trail in the country on the map. Locally here in NH, ME, and VT I use GPS Trailmasters loaded onto the Guru Maps Pro app which I feel is a much better app than the ride command but it only covers trails in the New England states.

I got the 28x10-14. I would have gone the factory size 27 but they don't make a 10 inch width 27 diameter tire. So I went with the 28's.

@@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq I’ve been doing a lot of research on what tires to replace the mud zilla tires on my xtr. I’m pretty much set on the 28x10-14 Reapers on all 4, but I’ve never ridden a Grizzly with 10” wide fronts, only 9”. Are you happy with the handling and performance of this setup?
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq
@QEOff-RoadAdventures-lv9uq 11 ай бұрын
@@barneychamorro I am very happy with the performance and the handling. It does not feel sluggish at all, which I assumed it would with the larger diameter and more rubber contact with the ground but it doesn't feel sluggish at all. I feel like I can charge through rock gardens much faster than I could with the zillas. More cofidence inspiring tire setup imo.

I use Guru Maps Pro with the atv maps purchased from gpstrailmasters.com. I think the map downloads are only available for trails in the northeast so they may not be available if you live outside of that part of the US.
