I have never heard a dulcimer before finding you channel this is insane it almost sounds like two instruments I wonder why more people don’t play it

Quite a lot of people do play it, particularly in some rural areas of the US. I suspect that many of them don't post on YT though. Another reason, is because of the fact that it has certain limitations. For instance, you can't just play in any key you want.
