Thanks for this runthrough 😀 I wonder why they introduced carboard tokens instead of Keshi. In standard deluxe version we put Keshi into required spots without any more tokens.

the essential edition reduces the retail cost like 20-30% by replacing the majority of keshis in the box with cardboard ones (and does some other stuff too) so the gameplay doesn't change, but the price drops a lot

What are your thoughts on the solo mode? Thanks for a great video!

i enjoyed it, but like many of dave turczi's solo designs, it is a LOT to remember, and personally i wouldn't have minded a more light-weight solo mode along the lines of what automa factory does for stonemaier games. HOWEVER, i totally forgot to mention there is an alternate, simplier solo mode in the rulebook that you could play with just the base game! you can check it out here: rules.queen-games.com/marrakesh_exp1_camels+nomads_en.pdf on page 15. this is more my speed, though in this case you're just trying to beat a high score chart, rather than the full solo mode where you have an active opponent.

I just hope I receive what I ordered from the KS. I'm reading some horror stories in the KS comments that are not reassuring. So glad they reached to Turczi for the solo mode. Hamburg's and Amsterdam's are underwhelming (although David's can be overwhelming, his latest solos are more streamlined IMO). Your thought's on it (the solo mode)?

queen's social management leaves a lot to be desired, and like most everyone else, they're generally much later than anticipated. but overall they've got a pretty good track record of getting the games there eventually (from what i've seen) :)

I still haven’t been able to purchase the original Marrakesh in the UK yet. Same goes for Hamburg, Amsterdam et al. Queen games suck.

folks often say "why should i back on kickstarter, i'll just wait for retail". sometimes the wait can be a long one :(

@@rahdo I broadly agree regarding Kickstarter, but Queen games seem to be, I guess the word is “spiteful”, regarding UK sales. That city collection has been available via retail around the whole of the Europe for a good long while, and Queens own online sellers supply pretty much everywhere (Europe, US, Asia, Oceania), but try to add a UK address and they will go out of their way to tell you that you can’t buy from them without stating why. At some point, Kickstarter has to stop being an acceptable excuse. I dunno if it’s some weird licensing thing or what, but it’s hard not to shake the feeling that I’m a second class customer somehow. I just want to buy some damn Feld board games! 😔

that is strange... i wonder if there is some sort of weird rights issue. i also wonder if it's brexit related?

I used to love Feld's game a lot. But Marrakesh was too point-salad-ish. There are very limited interactions among the 12 different actions (the two towers are well connected, but other then this two....) I felt the expansion provide even more options......
