It's great that you shared this topic as someone whose marriage is successful after VSG. I also have an incredible husband who has loved me unconditionally since the day we met 16 years ago. It makes me sad to see how many people don't have that and lack the support or are even kind of sabotaged out of fear or jealousy as they go through this journey. I've been grateful I haven't had to worry about that at all. experiencing any of that. When you were comparing life now to when you were bigger and making it clear that you weren't putting your past self or anyone else who's overweight down, it got me thinking about how I feel now as an overnight person. I am very happy. I've come a ridiculously long way from a rough childhood and very am proud of that. But, I know that life will be even more enjoyable, easier. and I will have more confidence as I get more fit and no longer overweight. There are athletic type places I'm self-conscious going to or won't go to because I feel like I don't belong. As much as I know I shouldn't be thinking that way, I do. Some people are overweight and have tons of confidence and I'm happy for them. That hasn't been me though, probably because my current body doesn't reflect who I am inside and makes it harder to do what I want to do. Even though you were happy and felt you looked good before, which you did, have you had any of this type of experience feeling like your body now matches your mind and spirit?

Cryyyyystal!🤗 I’m sure you’ve pushed yourself in ways you never thought were possible and came out of those experiences, a stronger, happier and healthier You. That is something to always be proud of. Being overweight is a hiccup in your life journey. As for being self-conscious around “athletic” places……I hear ya girl. For YEARS, I only went to the gym at 3am because there were only older folk there and I felt like they didn’t judge me like people my age/younger. I also NEVER ran outdoors - for fear of being humiliated by anyone passing by. Once, I had a hamburger thrown at me. People can be terrible BUT the majority isn’t like that. My thought process has always been, “I’m proud of them for being active because it takes a lot to get up and get out there.” I always give smiles, happy nods and a thumbs up, in hopes of making them FEEL good about their efforts. Because it’s a big deal. As I joined multiple run clubs and felt the genuine kindness from them, my confidence grew. Then as the weight came off, so did the emotional shackles. If someone thinks it’s ok to make fun of my efforts then they’re just a twat and have no business being in my happy bubble. I was happy before but was very much aware of my limitations and when those kicked in - the happiness went on hiatus. Yes, I’ve absolutely had those experiences. Although I’m not where I believe I need to be (yet); my mind, body & spirit are in alignment. But this didn’t happen overnight. It’s taken almost two years. Slowly things clicked. The major clicks happen as I reach personal goals. ie. No more Depression meds, Running more than 10 miles without feeling like I’m dying, becoming an Ambassador for a Marathon so close to my heart, and this may sound dumb…..but taking more pics and being present with my husband & kiddos. I love them and life so much. So I genuinely hope that others can feel this way as well.🫶🏼🤗

@@vsgathlete It's awesome and inspiring to see how far you've come. I discovered your channel just before you started posting more regularly. In one of your early videos it stood out to me when Anthony said that his hope would be that you would want to be in front of the camera instead of being annoyed when he wanted to take photos and that he'd be the one who'd be annoyed because you'd want to be on front of the camera so much. Boy has that come true! 😊 And it's awesome to see your confidence and the light that I'm sure was always there shine through with no filter. My weight is coming off relatively super slowly (20 lbs in 7 weeks) even with following my plan completely. What you shared is a good reminder to view and treat myself as a friend would rather than worry about the nasty, probably hurt and broken, people out there.

We don’t marry for looks, so stop thinking about your skin in bed, lol. He married you for your character, for that uplifting personality, for that beautiful smile. You are his soulmate so it shouldn’t matter what that soul is wrapped in, thick skin, loose skin, or other. You lost weight for your health, to feel good, to lift your spirits and to be even better mother and partner. Keep smiling, life is easier. If only more people smiled our lives would be so much better💖☀️ God bless

Agreed. Losing the weight to have a better quality of life is where it’s at. Anything positive after that is just icing on the cake. We all have our moments of insecurity but I am so grateful to have a partner who loves me Unconditionally. I wish that were the case for everyone.💕
