A magistrate in Zimbabwe can give you a marriage certificate without the consent of the parents although it is against the cultural norms. Lobola is no longer mandatory for a person to get a marriage certificate in Zimbabwe particularly if one needs a civil marriage certificate. Just as an addition, without bride price or lobola, a woman is not considered culturally your wife but can be legally your wife if you happen to get a marriage certificate with her.
