Thank you, Brian for doing this video. I am almost in tears especially after hearing your views on "homosexuality is a sin" are basically the same as mine. I have had a rough time coming out since February 2015. I am a true believer that we don't pick/CHOOSE as Christians or humans who we fall in love. My dad believe being gay is a sin so much it is scaring me. I didn't choose this as my sexual desire or whatever. It is so hard for me to feel okay regarding any of the gossip, shame that comes from my father, his family or some friends. I am sorry -- I am shaking a little. It's just because Catholic and gay is hard but being gay and disabled is another. At least, you have friends and a loving boyfriend that support you for being yourself. I have hide my passions for music, gay right, gay marriage because I know I'll labeled by my family, the State Of Delaware etc. for any of it. At 27, I just wish it was acceptable to myself at all times, instead of hiding the darkness from fear. Again, thank you for making this vlog and you & Dan's vidoes are the only places I know I can go for joy, comfort and understanding at this point in my life! THANKS TO YOU BOTH!! JOEY-

It's so refreshing to hear some clarification and justification on the ignorant comments people make about gay marriage. I for one, had a huge issue with gay marriage simply because I viewed marriage as a religious ritual and deemed it hypocritical. After some time and deep thought, I realized that gay marriage (or union) should be a nonissue and widely accepted due to the fact that it is a promise for commitment and love regardless of orientation! Keep them vblogs coming!

Hello from Europe... thank you so much for this video and your summary of all the obvious arguments pro and contra gay marriage ... it's all been said before but your video brings it to the point perfectly !! For us over here as well time has rather more than come to legalise gay relationships and to have a federal (european) law to do so. Besides that I'd like to encourage you to make more videos ... I really like your matter-of-fact style while being extremely sympathetic :) thanks a lot !!

Over all great video! I enjoyed the points you made about the book of Leviticus, I brought most of these same point in my diversity class on the topic of same sex marriage, bisexuality and bringing children into those settings. Now about 10 new people are praying for me and my "confused" ways. Living in a state where marriage equality was only legal for about a day, it really shames me that I'm not going to be accepted weather I marry a man or a woman, but yet two 1st cousins can marry anytime!

Eating shellfish, having extra marital affairs, stealing, lying, birth control, eating pork, entering holy place with damaged genitals (std or otherwise), gossiping, remarrying after divorce, working on sundays, eating fat, being a rape victim, having sex with a woman on her period, and blasphemy, it's extremely outdated as you have said, well done on making valid points and getting your point across, I'm yet to find someone anti-gay to make such well thought out points as a counter argument

I totally agree with all the points you make. This is very topical in the UK (I'm from there) now as last Tuesday gay marriage passed through Parliament. Although a gay couple can already have all the same rights as a straight couple through civil partnership, I think it's important that the same word be used to describe both straight and gay unions. Separate yet equal definitely doesn't work. I've also learned something new - never knew that gay marriage in NY didn't grant the same benefits :(

Amazing video. I don't want be mean but there are actually 3 books in the bible that contain sections that pin homosexuality as an abomination. Leviticus, Kings, and Romans. I completely agree with your statements on leviticus but the other verses are more difficult to counteract. I've personally tried to figure out how to dissuade these sections to some of my family members but it's hard. I'm interested in what you would think of those parts of the bible. Anyway..... loved hearing your thoughts

Brian, new subscriber here. I found you and Dan through Will and RJ and I must be careful to watch how much time to devote to watching your videos because I want my own incredible life and amazing boyfriends. Did I say "boyfriends?" My Freudian slip is showing. Anyway, to the comment: I believed your strongest rebuttal to the argument stating that children had to have a "mom and dad" was "What if a mother died in childbirth?" I add, "What if one parent proves abusive?"

I am a Christian and gay I believe there will always be debates regarding this issue, we have the free will of the ways that we can live achamomos be better, or have a family sim. Why not just remember the love of neighbor and leave the judgments to God, only he fits judge us. We have current laws that protect homessexuais but still need to walk far to secure our civil rights as a family, we should never give up, we're just like anyone else, we just want to love and be loved, does not that enough? Well enough for me. I have a family, I'm gay, Christian and I am happy. Let's leave aside the ignorance and live the pure love of Christ, I believe that only love can change the world.

You make a lot of great points, all of which I agree with. I'm Mormon but I hold true to not judging others as well as letting others leading their own lives. If you're happy and not causing harm to others (and I think those who claim harm via gay marriage and the thoughts of it are ridiculous) then you're alright in my book. My thought is if gay marriage bothers you so much then don't marry someone of e same gender! Don't worry about anyone else's marriage, I don't see the point.

Leviticus was a set of instructions meant to be followed by the priests of the Levite tribe. Now it is simply a record of something from long ago, not anything that should apply to us now. However there are references to homosexuality in the New Testament as well. In the original text, the writers were likely talking about men who took in young boys for sex (which was common) and were admonishing that practice. Most english translations will wrongly say "homosexuality" in those cases.

Brian, this is a phenomenal video. Everyone deserves "full equal rights" in this country. The person that you fall in love with should'nt concern anyone. Great video Brian! The religious arguments always annoy me because 99.99% of the time the person arguing it is a hypocrite. The other thing that irritates me about the debate is how incredibly sexist (against men) it is. I've often thought about the reasons why, and I always come back to this logic: it's because of our patriarchal society, gender roles, and an archaic value of women. They think two men together is wrong, but how many of them think lesbians are hot? That attitude disgusts me.
@morphous200212 жыл бұрын

Well, there is something that needs clarification. When you read Leviticus, keep in mind that it was written in a situation based language like Greek or Latin. English and German are gender masculine, Spanish and the like have both genders tensed words. Ancient Aramaic is a little different and when reading a translation that difference is important. The verse is supposed to be understood as when a husband comes to know another man the same as with his wife. Read the chapter, not the verse.

There are 272 comments here and I am not going to check them all to see if someone already mentioned this. Leviticus is not the only biblical text use to "prove" homosexuality is sinful. If you'd like I can give them to you. The problem is context. Those texts are not about what we call homosexuality. They are about pagan religious practices. There is absolutely no way to use the Bible as a defense against same-sex marriage. It's not mentioned at all. Keep up the good work.

In the UK, we've just had same sex marriage passed through the house of commons, but it will have to go through the house of lords before it can become law which will be more difficult. Many of the MPs argued that one of the reasons why it shouldn't be legal is that there are lots of same sex couples who don't want to get married so they shouldn't have the right! There are many heterosexual people who don't want to get married - should we take away their right too?! PS you get my msg? x

Awesome Video! Marriage is the public expression of love between two people - nothing more, although it does have other financial and legal benefits, at least under Canadian law. One othe comment is that I have heard several American public figures state that the legalization of gay marriage (and gays in general) will bring about "the end of the world as we know it" or whatever words they use to express it. They need to look no farther than Canada. Nothing serious has happened here.

Maybe you can touch on the topic of homosexual stereotypes such this term of "Straight Acting" in way of the gays that are not flamboyant or lesbians that aren't butch... And maybe your view on bisexuality being the on the Kinsey scale I think you said you rated a 4 or 5 but it not likely you will be with women again and do you believe the stereotype that bisexuals are confused on which gender to choose??? Forgive me if that's asking to much!
