Cam Newton did an impeccable job with this interview. The level of transparency that Kirk Franklin had is what the Christian community lacks. “Every boy needs to lay at the breast of their mother”. That shook my heartstrings. As a mom, I can’t imagine leaving my children by CHOICE. I pray for Kirk’s continued healing and kudos to Cam Newton. These brothers are real ones!

My first concert ever was a Kirk Franklin and God’s Property concert in Jamaica. My friends and I had A BALL! I still remember what I wore and how happy I felt. Even though I haven’t been a committed Christian in some time, I still try my best to live according to the guidance I learnt from my church-going Grandma and going to church with her. And when I am feeling low or dispirited and really truly low, I know that if I put God’s Property and The Nu Nation Project on repeat and I will feel OK (Up Above My Head, Love, You Are the Only One, The Storm is Over Now, Lean On Me, Riverside, Hold Me Now); I can literally always feel my body relax and calm down…and chuckle at the interludes. Stomp always makes me smile. So happy to see you still going strong and openly questioning + sharing your journey. And from this Jamaican girl - not one thing wrong with wearing a tank top to perform - especially the active way you perform. IT. IS. HOT. Sometimes we are just too concerned with appearances and form🙄🙄

ALL I have to say is, THIS WAS THEE BEST interview/conversation in recent history!!!! Although, it took me 3 days to watch it, because I was taking notes; you have no idea how much I gleaned from this interaction. From beginning to the every end, I was intentionally attentive to every single question and response. Being the author of a controversial Christian book, titled "The Dark Side of the Black Church... It's a Mind thing!" I could relate to and feel almost every single emotion that was being shared. I had to stop on several occasions, just to reflect and readjust... THIS WAS TRULY DOPE!!!! It is my prayer that church leadership would watch to in order to understand how many of them have missed the importance of reaching people from a human perspective. The Bible says, "first natural then spiritual." I believe Christianity has lost it's effectiveness, is because we approach things backwards. The old folk would say, "Don't put the cart before the horse." In many cases, that's exactly why Christianity is in the position it's in. Too many are teaching other's to be "TOO heavenly minded, and no earthly good!" Let me stop... Go get "The Dark Side of the Black Church... It's a MIND thing!" from Amazon, if you're interested on my take of how we got here and what we MUST be aware of. Again, Thank you Cam and Kirk... I love you both!

Shout out to Kirk man!! I hope this finds you.. I know you’re known for your music and I have a few I hold close to heart. BUT for me when you came to Denver, Colorado and preached your “Dirty Baton” sermon back in around 2010 changed my perspective in my faith. It really changed my relationship with God. You did that and thank you for that. Don’t sleep on yourself or your impact!!

Cam, thank you for hosting Kirk. Your approach and interaction with him was respect-full! Thank you for this beautiful space you created for Kirk to speak freely and candidly!

Being a church girl growing up Pentecostal I love what Kirk did to Gospel music for my brothers and I! His music kept me uplifted and dancing through the week. Kirk do not need man's approval, and his longevity shows that God likes the way he keeps us praising him! 🙌🙏💜 Now we all listen to sirus xm station Kirk Franklin Praise.

I love how Kirk has expressed how trauma has shown up in his life, his vulnerability and transparency can allow others to heal in life's journey. There are so many people hurting within and outside of the church, when we need to connect to the source of healing....God!! Thank you Kirk, you are appreciated in the space of healing for others.

There is much respect for Kirk Franklin. The documentary had me in tears, and I was able to understand the burnding my husband was/is going through after learning his deceased father was not his biological father. We tried to find answers about his Dad (who is living) through DNA testing, but there is still information he needs to move forward that only his mother knows of, but refuses to give. She's more worried about how her church friends and family will view her! She totally diismissed my Love mental, emotional and Spiritual well being! But God, and prayer, fasting, meditation, and a GREAT therapist, he is working through it. I am So proud of my beloved, as I am proud of Mr. Frankin! Many women dont understand that the identity of a Man is his Father and when lied to it causes chaos and what my husband used to say organized dysfunction. All who are going through such an experience my prayer for you is may the most high guide you with his holy spirit as go through the process and i pray you receive a divine Revelation knowledge that keeps you in Love and in the spirit of TRUTH covered by grace while going through. ❤

This interview got me weeping cause it’s so true. I felt this to my core. Just had to recognize this year my mama never truly gave me the love I desired from her, she gave it to her abusive husband who’s she’s still with. I always asked myself why wasn’t I or my brother enough??? What does he have that we don’t. How can a mother choose a man over her children?? Still behooves me. I walked away from her permanently two weeks ago after years of torture and trauma. Thanks mom for getting me here, but the woman I am now No longer needs you to succeed, I forgive and I wish nothing but good upon you

I grew up listening to Kirk Franklin, and now that I am an adult I can relate to his pain. I had both of my parents in the house, but they didn't raise me. I raised myself and my 3 nieces.

I just watched your entire interview and I want you to know that I too am a HUGE lover and supporter of Kirk Franklin! I listen to his music while gardening, walking, and whenever I need encouragement. His music has gotten me through some good and stressful times in my life. My prayer is that you, Cam, continue to let GOD use you as you, too, are a light that shines in this dark world we're living in. Much love and encouragement, Miss Janie

That interview to me was the best!!!! Really hit my heart when he spoke of his biological mother… my mother, has done some very disrespectful things to me over the years, and the people that I have in my life are not related, but they are more family than my own family is. My mother was still very abusive, not only to me but her own granddaughter and that’s not something I can accept. When he quoted to his mom, I’m good, but he wasn’t really good. I felt that because I told my mother the same thing because my mother literally told me that a conversation that we had the phone that it wasn’t gonna be a Kumbaya moment. … I’m good… excellent interview… a lot of Kirk’s songs affected me in my life

@@jusalitlesassy I wish he could be more sympathetic with his mother as he did with his Sister because it looked like they were all going through the same thing. And I hate to see grown men talking negatively about their parents in public it’s like undress them and call the whole village to come and see their nudity.
@Lainey_Shelley5 ай бұрын
@@themorelifehe was sympathetic. He said he understands Ms Debra has been through some things but it doesn’t change the fact that she abandoned him. If you’ve not seen his documentary please do as he tries to mend their relationship but you can’t want more for a person than they want for themselves. 🙏🏾

@@Lainey_Shelley I do understand! I see Kirk as A Leader and a Leader should have way to solve conflicts especially when its involving your Parents. There is level you reach and you have to keep your business, relationships, failures, successes in small circles. Because if you don’t your enemies will porky you with it.
@dawnashwood46114 ай бұрын
@@themorelife You're really not being fair and you are giving more creditability to the feelings of his mother who abandoned Kirk, more than Kirk who has had to carry the load of his bio-mother's abandoning him and not allowing accountability. He did not speak negatively of her sir. He shared a situation and what was said and done not only to him but the very sister you speak of. How sympathetic can a person be to an individual that continues to play in your face by telling you they don't know how a man could be your biological father? Stop putting parents feeling at the forefront and forgetting about the children.
@Lainey_Shelley4 ай бұрын
@@themorelife I get what you’re saying but the Bible also tells parents to not provoke their children. Sadly some of us parents push our kids away by not being accountable to the harm we caused our children. I believe that’s what hurt Kirk the most because how after two DNA tests has proven Mr Rick is his father is she denying it.

Cam, this is my first time listening to your show show, and let me tell you, I was taking notes because the gems you pulled from the treasure trove, that is, Kirk Franklin. I've always loved Mr. Franklin, my first entry into the world of gospel music, so NO ONE could ever not make me love Kirk, but now listen, I absolutely love his body of work and what he does for the kingdom. Shout to you, Cam, for amazing questions and for also sharing your truth, sir. Blessing to you always and forever.

True story. My first car was an 1986 VW Jetta and the speakers was dead. So I had a boom box that I had to buy batteries for and I would listen to "Silver and Gold" and "Whatcha looking For". I'm 47 and I've been encouraged by Kirk's music since I was 19. This man is a legend and I want to give him his flowers NOW

I just started this episode and to say Kirk is the Michael Jackson of Gospel........YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! I was raised in the church and Kirk Franklin is the reason why I started making music. The one person who I saw wasn't afraid to show their love for Jesus and be himself at the same time and that made me believe that I could do the same and no one could tell me any different. THANK YOU KIRK FRANKLIN and THANK YOU CAM FOR keeping it FUNKY

Caught glimpses of this podcast in the past bc of featured guests, but never dialed in to intentionally watch. But I LOVE me some Kirk Franklin, so I had to watch this. And oh, what a surprise to know that Cam is a real believer, appreciates Gospel music and loves the Lord made my heart glad b/c what I've read in media was not so positive. And the maturity, asking the right questions and articulation left me floored. So happy for his success. Kirk Franklin....I don't know what to say. Fortunately, I cannot relate to his pain but I appreciate his transparency, vulnerability, and candor. God continue to bless them both richly.
