You see Rhaenys and Daemon mirroring each other, but I see they are setting Aegon and Baela to mirror each other, which composes nice, as they are basically each other nemesis in book. There is many similarities between two: Alicent left crying Aegon this epiosde, just like Daemon left his crying daughters in 1x07. Aegon feels unloved by his parents, while Baela is half-orphan, who 'sometimes hates' her father. They value their step-parent (okay, Aegon doesn't know about AliCole, but still... he has currently better relationship with Cole, than he had with his father.) Most importantly, Baela could try claim throne as granddaughter of former heiress. But here is were similarities end and contrast began. While Baela could very easily challenge Rhaenyra and Jacaerys's claims and usurp throne for herself, she is deeply loyal to them and supports her stepmother and stepbrother on each angle. Aegon on other hand decided to choose power over his sister and nephews and he has pursued his illegitimate claim to Iron Throne. I think it's settling perfectly Aegon and Baela as enemies who lived in similar situations as children, yet chose radicaly different path as adults!

How did Criston get away with taking out the Knight of Kisses in the pre wedding party. It makes no sense. He should have done it in the turney like in the books, that way no one can say anything.

While I agree they should've just kept the tourney scene from the books, I didn't find the wedding murder as outrageous as most people did. Criston is a Kingsguard, outranking everybody in that room except the royal family. If I was a guest at that wedding, I'd assume Cole had a good reason for killing Lonmouth - like he must've been an imminent threat or something. As for Viserys letting Criston stay on the Kingsguard, it can be explained two ways. One, Viserys was sick and exhausted and didn't really make the best decisions re: personnel anyways. Two, Alicent probably spoke to Viserys on Cole's behalf, realizing she could use him to her benefit.

When Alicent said "His pain is ended" she meant the pain of his murder. I doubt it feels good to die by having your throat sliced open and your head cut off (given that Blood and Cheese hold Jahaerys down and cover his mouth, it is unlikely that they decapitated him in one clean stroke like they did in the books) but once you're dead, you can't feel anything. Alicent is clearly thinking of her children, Aegon and Helaena, and how they will have to endure the pain of their son's death because they are alive to mourn him.

Arryk won that battle and I don’t care what anyone else says about it - literally rewatched the scene with my boyfriend more times than I care to admit. We watched their movements as much as possible, compared wounds, compared heights of the actors (there’s a 3 inch height difference), compared beard lengths, etc. Every single method we used told us that it was Arryk who won the fight and then fell on his sword. And honestly, I think that answer makes the scene even better.
