Guys, Breaking Bad is...a masterpiece. Once in a lifetime show. It starts good, but with each season it just gets better. You have no idea how good. This IS NOT one of those countless shows that loses it somewhere along the way. Just stick to it and you'll be rewarded. And I know it all sounds pompous and it's hard to believe, but it's just truth haha.

What baffles me is how there is literally no ''bad'' episodes in this show. Literally, not a single one. No unnecessary or wasted moments and subplots. If a character is doing something, there is a reason for that and you will find out sooner or later why. That is what makes it a 10/10 imo.

One of those rare shows that doesn't run out of steam or ever get to the point where you are ready for it to finish in fact it actually goes from strength to strength and has almost everything from mundane family life to crazy super villains. In one episode you can go from tragedy to humour & from a family dinner to nail biting excitement and all played out through complex characters who have flaws yet still manage to make you care. A true masterpiece of Television up there at the top imo with the Wire, Game of Thrones and its sister show Better call Saul.

However, what they should notice is that Gomez, a Hispanic dude, is Hank's best friend. Also, Gomez dishes it right back. Nobody was politically correct in the old days, that was just normal. And different races felt comfortable making little jokes about cultural differences because there wasn't this walking on egg shells racial tension that exists today. I see Hank as an easy going, blue collar type of guy you can have a beer with. He loves his job and he loves to make people laugh and loosen up. His only weakness is that deep down he's a teddy bear under that macho exterior.

26:37 Yeah, the show has 5 seasons and it is really good from start to finish, which is very rare. Most shows of that length have ups and downs, or maybe the quality gradually goes down as the show progresses, but in this one there are no bad episodes (you have some that are slower and more psychological and some that are faster and more thrilling, but none of them are bad). And the show is a continuous story with an arc (as opposed to an episodic type show where episodes can be understood individually), which makes it even harder to get right because here the characters have to evolve over time and it has to be done right. I saw an interview where Vince Gilligan, the creator of the show, was asked how they managed to pull it off for years (the lightning in a bottle, as you put it), and he said that they just kept getting lucky with everything that could have possibly gone wrong, that every accident or event that happened during production somehow always worked in their favor. 26:40 The pilot was written and directed by Vince Gilligan, and he said that in his view it was important that the pilot alone was able to attract the audience. He wanted to sold the whole premise of the show to the audience in the first episode, and only after they have decided they are in, build the story gradually.

Late to the party. I'm on a tour of reaction channels reacting to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I love your analysis so far. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series from ya. Honestly, I knew in the intro when you said "he's disassociating" instead of "what's going on" (no hate to anyone lol), it was going to be a good video lol. Now that you're done with the series, one thing that's fun to look back on is the first lesson he gives about chemistry being the study of change in his eyes, and when he does, the first bottle causes the flame to turn green as he says it. Color theory is obviously used heavily, and green is used to represent change. Seeing how well the writers planted seeds from the beginning is my favorite part about the pilot.

Loved the reaction, and the post episode commentary/discussion! This is by far my favorite show of all time, so looking forward to more! As for your question on the seasons of the show: There are 5 seasons of Breaking Bad (though one of them was split in 2 when it aired), but after that if you want more there's a movie (El Camino), and 6 seasons of the spinoff based on one of the characters (Better Call Saul), which most people think is just as good as BrBa (some even think it's better).

Based on your reaction to the pilot episode, I think you're both going to really love this show. There are lots of popular TV shows out there (The Sopranos is my personal all time fav) but 'BB' is genuinely the only series that I've watched that gets better with each season. The spin-off series "Better Call Saul" is also fantastic and I'd recommend watching that when you finish BB. There are so many great side characters in BB, that you haven't been introduced to yet. Don't want to say anymore for fear of spoilers but I think you'll really enjoy this and I think you'll grow to have a better opinion of Hank as the show progresses. He's a bit of a bonehead but his heart is in the right place. So lay off Hank LOL!

Before I begin, I have a comment for you Eric. You've probably heard this many times before, but you look exactly like Ryan George. He does funny KZbin videos. You should check him out 😁 Ok, about Breaking Bad... FYI Season 1 only has seven episodes. It got cut short because of a writer's strike in 2008. Every season is better than the last, seriously! But for me, s4 & s5 are a tie. They are both absolutely fabulous! Keep in mind that generally the last half of every season is better than the first half. And the last half of every episode is usually better than the first half. Please keep in mind that watching this show as quickly as you can is beneficial to both you and us, the viewers. Please don't start watching any other shows right now, it just takes away from your available time to watch BB. Buckle up tightly. This show is a 10 out of 10 masterpiece!! Please understand that my comments are just suggestions and or food for thought. I understand you will do what you're going to do. It's your life and your decision, I know.

Coincidental timing for this upload! Season 1 is only 6 episodes due to a strike starting, immeasurably impacting the series by forcing a rewrite of the entire original storyline. Detailing the changes would spoil too much so I'll just say nobody would be making reactions to what was originally written. The strike inadvertently diverted it from being a pretty good show to the universally revered masterpiece it became. Season 1 is historically great, but nothing will ever supplant Season 5 as the greatest television experience available to mankind, especially since you don't have to wait a week between episodes, nor endure the months they forced us to wait during an inexplicable midseason break which most scientists agree is the worst atrocity ever inflicted on humanity

5 seasons isn't too bad. Always Sunny in Philadelphia is on season 16. That is a long series. 😁 This show has some of the most creative openings, shots, montages. The actor who plays Hank, was pretty young when he had a role in the film "Starship Troopers". Meth first synthesized in 1887 in Germany, sold over the counter as a non-prescription drug. And given to German soldiers during WWII as a stimulant under the brand name Pervitin. 1950s U.S. it was used as a diet pill under the brand name Obetrol. 1970s was when it became a class II controlled substance. Not sure of the history of the crystal form.

It's showing Walt as timid and overlooked, people don't respect him and can push him around, which is key to understanding his motivation in the transformation that occurs with Walt over time. Like, what ypu think is gonna happen, doesnt happen quite the way you thought. And imo you will be 'spun' by this show. Its truly a masterclass in everything. the problem with having extra episodes, that you already saw on a different platform, is that it makes discussion in the comments pretty pointless. You already know what is going to happen next. Having seen dozens of BB reactions I don't see the point of me watching you watch the show at a slower pace than you. So good luck. You'll love the show and eventually Better Call Saul too. honestly, we aren't genuinely offended any more than we believe the show's writing is wanting us to be. if you have a character mishandling a firearm and using derogatory racial slurs as their character introduction, the point isn't to make us feel that the character is likable, but instead the opposite. we understand from the comments that folks definitely warm up to the character, but we're completely new to this show. we have no idea what to expect going in, so it's a little unfair to say that we're not allowed to respond exactly the way the writer intended us to respond, in order to show nuance and growth for the character throughout the show. seriously, not that offended, only reacting naturally to the content of the show as it happens.

Did you know that guns don't magically shoot by themselves? You also know he took the magazine and bullet out of the chamber so that it was empty before he handed it over to his nephew and Walt, right? Maybe you don't know this, but guns need bullets in order to be dangerous. Saying that that's mishandling of a firearm proves how little you know about firearms. You were ready to judge before you even knew what was going on and I'm sure you haven't even considered that you might be incorrect in your perspective. Derogatory racial slurs, that's a good one, lol. This is the difference between the perverted, upside down world of today and the world of 15-20 years ago. People have no nuance anymore and cannot detect tone or intent. Everyone is so ready to be offended as soon as they hear something they don't like or understand. Hank's partner is Mexican and they love each other. They both use slurs against one another. That's how it used to be, and how it still is today with good-hearted, intelligent people who love one another and have that sense of humor. You've just been socially engineered to have a freak out every time race is brought up in a way that isn't empowering or uplifting. You don't realize that what's truly empowering is two people of different races coming together and caring for one another. It doesn't matter how they talk to each other, that's between them. Not to mention, it was also much more socially acceptable to speak like that back in the day in the form of being playful, because people didn't used to be as brain dead and butthurt. White folk call their Mexican friends wetbacks, Mexican folk call their white friends crackers. I would know, my best friend is Mexican and I'm tight with his family. We joke around. We laugh. We smile. We love each other. There isn't a derogatory bone in our bodies. Being scared of language gives it weight and power over you. If you want to scoff and get on your high horse of propagandized superiority, by all means. Just not the channel for me. I can't stand people who don't understand context or can't laugh at something meant to be funny. It's just sad.

@@benjammin1928 you say we are easily offended and triggered, but it is you who is writing lengthy comments. we are in fact gun owners ourselves and know that the first principle of handling a firearm is that you never point it at something unless you do not care about risking harm or destruction of the thing you are aiming at, even if your weapon is not loaded or has the safety on. it's actually knowledge of responsible gun ownership that prompts that reaction, not the other way around. regarding racial slurs, it's just one of those things that we'll have to respectfully disagree upon. just because something is common, or even in good faith, does not make it right. again, not overly sensitive, just a normal reaction to a show we've never seen before. we also reject the notion that just because we have values that means that we are socially programmed, at least in any negative connotation. all values themselves are socially taught and enforced, but only certain values are morally correct and other values are morally incorrect. may be a bit old fashioned of us to say, but can't help speaking truthful about what we genuinely believe. and again, not sensitive. not freaking out, not braindead or butthurt. just responding to the show directly, and now responding to your comments, as natural.

Just trying to do my best to help others let go of fear and stop being so serious all the time. It's exhausting. Mind viruses spread like wildfire and things are out of hand in this day and age. My point still stands. The intention the writers had was to make the audience laugh, because it's funny. Maybe one day you'll go back and see the humor in it.
