I haven't re-watched this show after watching it the first time when it was being aired. One of the things that I truly appreciated about this show is that decisions and actions have consequences and the writers do not pull punches with those consequences. That was very refreshing to see. This show is a wild ride!

Breaking Bad is now finally the highest-rated show, according to IMDB. To me, watching Walt and Jesse is like watching a new version of the classic comedic duos like Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, or Martin and Lewis.

The actor for Bogdon the car wash guy was a science advisor for the show. He told them about the chiral bodies, etc. Some of the chemistry on the show is not exactly realistic, for certain things like making drugs and melting bodies. For obvious reasons.

I'm quite late as your BCS reactions popped up on my feed, so I'm watching your BrBa ones as well. A couple of titbits: the pilot script had established both Emilio and Krazy-8 had died; once the show was greenlit, assistant editor Kelley Dixon kept pushing for Krazy-8's actor to be brought back in because he was so talented and likeable, and the writers realised having one of them survive would make great storytelling, as you've both correctly pointed out. The other one's more of a cross-reference now that you've watched BCS: on both shows' second episode there's a mention of 'Colombian neckties'. Jesse says it here, and ... [I won't say who it was in case someone reading hasn't seen it] someone else says it on BCS.

Don't worry guys, it gets worse, a lot worse. By the end of Series Five you will have watched some of the best TV ever made. Then check out 'Better Call Saul', the prequel to Breaking Bad, which is nearly as good.

BCS is not nearly as good; it’s better. Both shows are 10/10, but BCS is slightly better. If we compare them in terms of filmmaking aspects: Acting: BB leads are obviously incredible, but so are BCS leads, but when BCS gets the lead from supporting actors, their performances are better than those of BB supporting actors, so BCS gets acting. Writing: Tie; both are equally good. Storytelling: BB, BCS later storytelling gets better with the pacing, but in the beginning it was a little bit slower and BB had better storytelling since the first episode. Cinematography: BCS, by far, no need to explain. Character: BCS Antagonist: BCS And other technical aspects like editing, etc., BCS. Like I said, both shows are 10/10, but BCS improved on what was already a masterpiece. BCS>BB.

There are still great shows. I'm thinking of the likes of _Barry_ and _The Bear_ and _Reservation Dogs_ among others. But yes, this world of _Breaking Bad_ and _Better Call Saul_ was exceptional television, which cannot be denied. In any single era, though, you can always find good and even great stuff.

Braking Bad was an outstanding phenomenon back then too. That's why the "everything was better back then" narrative doesn't necessarily fit. And the makers have kept up the high quality with Better Call Saul until 2022.

Imagine if Walt's wife DID have credibility to get a well-paying job. Like she had some sort of professional training or certification for a white collar profession, but instead, sat home on her ass, all while her husband was working two jobs, both low-paying, and one involving both manual labor and occasional humiliation. That would suck, wouldn't it? It would be even worse if she quit such a job for frivolous reasons and lied to her family about those reasons, while letting her husband pick up a second, probably minimum wage, job to take up the slack.

16:08 - I totally agree turning themselves in early on like you said was the best move. I think Walt particularly with no criminal history and the recent terminal diagnosis could put a decent case together. Especially if you tell them you're surrendering as to avoid becoming a murderer. But also, I bet a society that doesn't profit off of people's cancer misfortune has ALOT LESS normal people feeling like they need to cook meth just to protect their family and die with a sense of dignity.

I had a friend who’s husband was a thalidomide baby. He stayed at my house for a couple weeks and mostly played guitar. Nice guy. He had a prosthetic leg and crutches. She said when he was home he would take all that off and he moved pretty fast. When I think of him I don’t see his disability first, I think of mandolins and guitars and a nice guy married to a nutcase.😮 I always skip the icky parts of this episode. Or don’t watch it at all.
