When I was Muslim, I feared God, I was more terrified of God than I was of Satan. [But as soon as I started questioning the teachings of Islam and the legitimacy of Muhammad as a prophet, it became clear to me that Quran was a book inciting violence on the non-believers and reducing women to objects owned by men. I was horrified by Sharia Laws which seeks gays and adulterers be stoned to death, that those who leave Islam be punished by death by beheading, that a woman’s words is to be believed only if 4 men testify for her. I questioned “how could Islam be a religion of peace”? The final straw was learning about Muhammad’s paedophilic nature and warlord history.] Breaking free of Islam and becoming atheist was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, it took so much time and healing to crush all the chains my mind was put under. Leaving Islam was like finally becoming a rational human being for me. I hope she has realised that too.

I don't like the statement of this being a feminist issue, because it implies feminists then have sole authority to speak on the subject. And many feminists have ignored the plight of women under Islamic regimes. It's definitely an issue feminists should be very concerned with however.

The problem with "Ex-Muslims" is that after they have left Islam they spend so much time talking about Islam and Muslims. You have left the religion. Get on with your life instead of complaining about how bad life was as a Muslim.
