Love the show! As a drummer in my 52nd year of playing (62 in total), sound is the most important thing I strive to deliver with my drums. That is one of the largest realms out there. But watching your show has been instrumental in further developing my ears and being aware of the most subtle of nuanced elements. The slightest change in frequencies and tonality are easier to hear day after day. For my ears, once Mick plugged in the Stratocaster with the high gain Bluesbreaker, a massive smile came upon my giddy face!! They way your settings interacted with the pickups and Mick's hands, it just exploded with rich, lush and endlessly joyous tones. Ritchie Blackmore's tone (or tones as it changed a lot over the decades) is my favorite Stratocaster sound. While this isn't remotely that sound, it had a similar impact on my senses.

An original English Bluesbreaker was my "always on" pedal for years with a Strat into a Mesa Boogie Mk III. Cut a little of the zingy high end, gave a bit more lower mids and just a hair of breakup. Then I got a King of Tone and quickly realized that without the high gain option, setting the KoT to the "boost" setting pretty much matches the tones exactly and with more volume available if desired. Side note for Mick, if you haven't tried a Mk III in a while try to borrow one. I recently picked one up again and it compares very favorably to my TS-1 in a slightly brighter way and with more gain and volume available when needed. Plugged into a Two-Rock 2x12 it sounds even better with SO many sounds available thanks to it's powerful tone knobs and graphic EQ.

The experience you're having with the Marshall BB in the first half is almost exactly what happened for me last night! Messing around with drive sounds between a wampler belle, pantheon, sugar drive, tube screamer, stacking them, etc..... man nothing sounded as good as the 1962 portion of my Keeley Tone Workstation with the tone and gain both at or over 2 o'clock. That simple circuit is magic!

I use a Behringer TM300 as my blues breaker-like captain crunch ATM. A lot of pedal for a specific use for cheap. I've found I like my BD2 as my fuzz. I've got a Behringer SF300 as a boost/shape pedal for the guitar signal (and back up hyper fuzz) into the BD2 at full gain, reduced tone. It lets me have my light fuzz on chords & hard sounds. I call it Griddle n Blues.

Great show! Worth noting Mick states he finds the Blues Drives a bit "fizzy" at the high end. And he's right! It does! But on the Wazacraft they addressed this common criticism and added the "Standard v Custom" switch and by selecting the latter it gets rid of that. I do appreciate Mick and Dan clearly made the point they were wanting to do a shoot out of the originals though. It is a - to me and many Waza other BD owners - a HUGE point though and I would have loved it demonstrated somewhere in the vid. Still a great vid though, not whinging too much haha!

Interesting. I watched you guys (amongst others) talking about the Angry Driver a while back, and I bought one. It's hands-down the most versatile drive I've got (I took everything else off the board). Add an external footswitch to the AD and it's just incredible, you can go from almost imperceptible grit to break-up to soaring, roaring and squealing all in the one box. Love the videos guys, long may you continue.

"My sound" for years was a Strat into a BD-2 set to edge of breakup into literally blackface for the occasion. Playing the BD-2 side of the JB has been reminding me what an incredible sounding and FEELING circuit that is.

Just wanted to say I've been watching the show from my parent's TV for the last couple of weeks - where I'm not logged in. That means no premium and I wanted to recognise and thank you for not spamming the video with ads. I know I should expect as much from TPS, but I think it bears worth saying. A show idea for you: exploring the tone controls on some traditional overdrive pedals. (Especially now you have an actual Bluesbreaker) - watching the show today I think I rediscovered that I've been wrongfully assuming that the tone circuit on the pedal is the same as a guitar tone circuit. OBVIOUSLY thats not the case, especially where you've got 3 band EQ, but, what about singular tone knobs? And the same for amps! Think theres some serious education to be done there.

A long time ago I decided to go for a Bluesbreakre, but the guy in the guitar shop (the place I always bought my gear from and trusted) said the BD-2 had more balls. The Blues Driver is a really versatile pedal. It’s not just for blues. Turn the gain up and it’s a really good sounding rock distortion. Boost with an overdrive and you can get heavy enough with it. Turn your guitar volume down and it cleans up better than any pedal I know of. I’ve been using it some lately without ever turning it off and just switching pickups and backing off on the volume for clean sounds and it has worked perfectly for that.

Mick sounds great, testing a new USB DA converter, -132dB signal to noise ratio, jitter 0.9pS... anyway it sounds fantastic! Remember that with LOG pots, using them below noon will be too much loss in the signal! One reason I hate 1M log/audio pots. Dan fixed a SuperFuzz for a friend of mine. Man that thing is wild and crazy in any of the settings. Mick, remember your new pedal options probably have not broken in yet. You need 40 or so hours that will help out on the midrange. I use a DAC into a dual TS and then Signal Scope Pro with the oscillator output with pink noise + 40->10K sine sweep up/down + triangle wave for 24 hours before I ship. Really breaks in those capacitors so the mids come clean. Great show guys, thanks... just got pedals from Fedex dropped off, looks like more on the way!

Yes. BluesBreaker. This episode affirms everything I've ever thought about it and the pedals derived from it. It'll never make it on to my gigging board because I just don't find it cuts enough but I will never sell it. And I really needed this episode to make me confident about that decision. Still, it must be said: if, at gunpoint, I was told I could only use one pedal no matter how much music was left in my life, it'd be the BB. Thorpy Peacekeeper a close second. Thanks again, lads.

Stack it and or always on.

@roscius6204 I use the Peacekeeper for the always on application. I spent a few hours in the studio once shooting out a Timmy V3, Lightspeed, BB and the Peacekeeper. Thorpy came up trumps.
