Brings back memories seeing this. Claremont Hills was one of the most beautiful local wilderness parks I've ever seen, and Marshall was a fun detour.

Did this one yesterday. Right now it's beautiful! Lots of (shallow) stream crossings and I found it easy to get lost, especially coming back 😅next time will try to use GPS too.

Well, I finally got over yesterday (Saturday) and did this one and knocked it off my bucket list. I did it by your suggestions and I started it at the Oak Mesa Park and cut it off at a trail junction above abandoned cabin, stables and tunnel. You showed that junction at 6:00. The lower part was beautiful and I am going back sometime later this year when I have more time to do the entire thing. (I think, it could be a Canyon Live Oak, Brian Powell could tell) I even identified a couple of Engelmann Oaks in the very lower canyon before it turns into a cement channel. I also saw a few Canyon Live Oaks and of course many, many Coast Live Oak. Your video was "on the mark" for someone who has never been there before. I did it with no map, no GPS and no cell phone directions. Excellent place, thank you!

That's awesome, glad you got to to experience it and see all of that fauna. The sections along the creek can get really lush. I haven't been there since COVID but hoping to hit it again this spring.

Did this today, hike has a little bit of everything. The first 3-4 miles reminds me of Holy Jim Trail. Also saw a fox drinking water from the river.

I love Marshall Canyon. It was my high school and college cross-country long run. You basically can take it to Baldy and cross over to Silverwood and hit the PCT. Rugged though.

Yea I've thought about a longer adventure (maybe even on MTB) up and over the mountains from Marshall Canyon... maybe I'll make it happen this winter

It's not too bad, just take a GPS / GPX and you'll be solid.

What's with the urban hiking at the beginning? Is there no parking allowed near to the trail head?
