Loved Crenshaw! I miss the Merv Griffin show! I watched a lot of great music acts perform on his stage, including Wang Chung performing "Dance Halls Days" - my first time seeing them, and the way that band playfully entered onto the stage, mesmerized me and endeared them to me, to this day. 💕 Wish someone can find that video.

Loved this guy! He never had any pretensions other than to craft straight up pop and his albums were chock full of catchy tunes. Always had several of his songs on my mix tapes in the 80s.

Props to Merv Griffin and his staff for crafting such a fine introduction for a relatively unknown artist, and big props to Marshall and his band for backing up every word of it with this performance. Really appreciate the stunning quality of the remastered video from 1982. Proud to subscribe.

Chris Donato was such a great bass player and showman. It seems that he was never seen again after Marshall's second album. Why?

Probably because Marshall's career didn't take-off like everyone thought it would. Marshall has said that after "Field Day" he was very gloomy about it's lack of success and was very worried about where his career was going. One could assume Chris (as a hired-hand) picked-up on this and decided he needed to look elsewhere to try and assure his own income - it's a guess.

I never knew he was on Merv Griffin!!! I do like the Letterman version better. It's filmed like a psychedelic pop song. Still a great song. He sounds fantastic. ❤

Might've not been popular in your city's market area. It was a relatively decent hit, topped out at No. 36 on the Billboard charts I believe.

This version may not be the best but the record is, in my opinion, SO much better than Robert Gordon's cover. Not even close. And Crenshaw's live version on Letterman is pretty great.

Thank heavens for the Robert Gordon version or I would have never given this tune a second listen. Sorry Marshall, you may have written it but I think your version is lacking. Lot's of writers have the good sense to let some else perform their songs, imho this is clearly one of those times. Thanks for the posting, it just makes me like Robert Gordon's all the more.

Nope, Gordon looks like a damn robot singing, Crenshaw has something that Gordon doesn't. It's livelier and makes you wanna dance ,Gordon makes me want to change the station. The mop is on point though, my style 😎
