Some of the differences could be the 40 watts v. 20 watts or the speaker in the JCM is older and maybe more broken in ??
The JCM seems more mellow and smooth; the DSL is brighter, more edgy and is a lot of gain if you crank it all the way up.
I think the DSL can be dialed in to closely match the JCM, but then has a lot more gain if you want it.
Keeping them both for now ?!
