I'm playing a 2020 Marshall Mini/Studio Silver Jubilee 20W Amp through a 4x12 of 1980s Marshall Vintage (Celestion V30) speakers. These are the speakers that the original Silver Jubiulees came with and they work amazingly well together. They provide the firmness and focus that the Silver amps need. I'm using a 2013 Gibson SG Standard Aged with a (potted) Burstbucker 3 in the bridge.

My last gigs were putted into Korg processor, to be 10% about the sound. But this combination is awesome! From metal to the classic ballads - everything is great! I think, I just was missing you! I tried different types of celestions with my mini jubillee and didn't like the tone and found that I got the best sound from the V-30s as well. I originally heard the mini debuted at the NAMM show and loved it. I found out much later that the 2 speaker cabinet had V30s and that's what prompted me to try them. Thanks for your demo,Johan, sounding great as always!

I had the Silver Jubilee mini combo in the past and I thought it was odd that they chose to use a Greenback with it. I swapped it out with a Warehouse Veteran 30 (improved V30 clone) and I thought it sounded a lot better and less fizzy. I did this because I had also read that the Jubilee was designed with the V30 in mind, or vice versa. Sounds great, Johan! 🤘🏻

I currently have been using a Marshall 2525C jubilee combo re-issue. It is definitely not a Marshall silver jubilee. They may have shrunk a lot of things down and certainly the head performs well in this however, I will tell you from my own experience. I actually switched the speaker in my combo to a one by 12 G2 M cream back and I use an extension one by 12 Friedman cab, which I switched and put a V 30 in this seem to give me a more balance sound and make the app sound more traditionally like a true silver jubilee, certainly what you’ve done here is fantastic and that is actually the sound I was certainly seeking and have achieved with it, but I also spent a lot of time on Tube compliment and certainly correcting that $2000 for that amplifier was one of my largest mistakes I’ve regretted the purchase for about nine months out of the year and a half. I have owned it recently picked up a Friedman run for my local gigs and I’m using the Marshall in My Home studio is certainly not in my opinion as good as any of my Friedmans recently just started using the Friedman JEL 20 and truly to me it has been the answer to a true silver jubilee. If there ever was a jubilee made, it is the Friedman JL 20 no doubt Jake Lee based the concept on this app had used it many times in the past and even/has complemented Friedman on their quality when he is himself a V 30 user and a silver jubilee alone user but even his demo of the mini silver jubilee combo with the 25 W greenback sounds horrible Again I have spent a fortune trying to find exactly what I wanted. I am glad Friedman was able to deliver. Marshall could not deliver without putting the petals in front of it that Friedman makes so again it’s a great blue, but I don’t consider it anything more than a 70s rock amplifier, because maxing out the game on the naughty channel or channel of this app will get really loose. Unless you crank the at least experience any advice you might have to improve my combo. I would love to hear. I have actually been considering seeing if I could get one or someone to help me because I am totally blind switch the tubes from EL 34 to KT 66 because I do love my old 1987 jubilee and just wish I could get this one to sound the Same, but with the KT 66s, it will give me the and the Sound I truly want for now since I have replaced it with the Friedman love your demos man killer guitarist great collection and I appreciate the $35,000. You have spent because it has absolutely been agift to knowledge thanks again demo as always great work on your last too 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29 5:29

My first real serious amp was a Marshall was a Jubilee 2x12 combo, bought new in 87 from good ol Guitar Center. Who knew it would become so revered. All I knew was how much I loved that amp and played it for years. I stupidly traded it some years back, as we players do sometimes...now I've decided to reclaim my tone. Figured I could always find a vintage Jubilee head, but sourcing good condition original 1987 Marshal Celestion V30 8 ohm speakers would be more difficult. Man, that was all too accurate, sadly. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places? Any suggestions from Johan or the community here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have long thought the late 70's through 80's Celestion G12-80 with 444 cones is the speaker of choice(Celestion T-3103). It can sound great pushed or run clean. The hype on the street in the mid-80's is that the Celestion Vintage 30 was simply a rebranded G12-80 with 444 cones. It would be interesting to hear this amp with a Vintage 30 in one ear and a G12-80 in the other. You are correct that the Mini Silver Jubilee sounds great through the Vintage 30. Other examples you have posted tended to be more fizzy and compressed. The Vintage 30 is more flattering. What is great about the Vintage 30 is it usually sounds great with a full band. That's one reason I don't like the Greenback. It gets mushy sounding when it's pushed hard. I am one of those types that turns an amp up to 7 or 8 at a minimum. I have also blown many G12M-25 speakers over the past 4 decades. As always a cool demo.
@JohanSegeborn

Thanks! Glad you like it. Yeah V30 kills Greenbacks in a live band situation. G12-80 1777 is actually the same speaker as G12-65 1777 but with a heavy magnet. They .also had a G12-80 444 version, that has much more lower mids than the V30

I did read somewhere that the Marshall Vintage and V30 are different designs.The story was that the Marshall Vintage was co- developed by Marshall and Celestion exclusively for the Jubilee amps. When Celestion tried to use it in other amps Marshall complained that it is exclusive to them, and being a big customer Celestion agreed.They then designed the slightly different V30 and switched manufacture to China for the V30. Don’t know if it’s true ……

@@sergerichard1269 the Marshall Vintage (UK made) is not the same speaker as the V30 (China made) found in Orange PPC cabinets. I have both and I have compared them extensively. To me the Marshall Vintage sounds closer to the late 70's G12-65 than to V30's. The mentioned G12-65 was Celestion's successful attempt to make higher powered G12M-25.

@Gengar Seems silly. I use Greenback cabs (I have 3 of them) to this day, but in a loud, dense mix, ALL of my V30 cabs sit better. My Greenback cabs have no hate from me, but they require more mids, and A LOT more volume to keep up in a dense band's mix, especially with keys and horns. 5150, 5150II, DSL20, SLO100, 1987x, Fender BJ converted to head, Shiva/Exctasy/Uber, Dark Terror, Rockerverb, and even my 59 Bassman, all sit better in a mix with my V30 cabs, from 112's-412's. Open back 212, to closed 412. In my opinion, the band's, and most club's sound guys. Yet, I'll never say, "no more Greenbacks, JL's, etc, for me." My home made Celestion Blue, Dade country pine 412 is NOT for all my amps, or situations. Same as my 1960B, or my Peavey 5150 412, my Orange PPC212/412/112, Uber 412, or Celestion Gold custom maple, open back 112 cab.

I have a theory as to why original les Paul’s sound better than the modern reissued ones. I got this theory from watching shoe repair videos on you tube, The shoe repair man would paint the glue on to the leather and give the glue plenty of time to soak into the leather. He would let the glue dry for an hour or so, before reheating the glue with a heat gun. Only then would he attach the two parts together. When I saw these shoe repair videos I just felt “I bet that is how they glued les Paul’s together in the old days”.
