Thank you for sharing the difference between the two beaches. We have heard a ton about Baker Beach, but not much about Marshall's.

I live in San Rafael and have enjoyed Marshal's beach a number of times:) Have you ever been to Black Sands Beach in the Headlands on the Marin side. Love your videos! It would have been great to meet you in person during your Bay Area visit:)

@TwoGayExpats2 ай бұрын
Google pacific overlook and drop a pin there as trailhead is close to there down to the beach!

@@TwoGayExpats Actually just entering Marshall’s Beach works. They’ll drop you at the parking lot and the path down is right there. I do this regularly.

Looks so tranquil but perhaps can be dangerous in high tides. (Maybe there are caves in the cliffs). I worked a lot in the east coast of the U.S. will have to try visit the west coast sometime.

Yes, it clear to see the tides and how large the sandy part of the beach is before leaving the last stairs down… thank you, we agree safety first!

Nice! And agreed, it changed a lot in the one year I (Trai) was there with Andy! We lived at the top of the stairs at 20th and Douglass! Loved it but was happy to leave too. We enjoy visiting now. And Palm Springs too!!

Great introduction to where and what Baker's vs. Marshall's beaches are. But you start out on our spectacular vintage street cars (which I rode in Pittsburgh, PA right on through the early 1970's). Then all of a sudden we're at the the signage for the path down to the beaches. How did we get there? I'll watch again and see if I blinked when you gave any directions whatsoever. I'd say most gay tourists I've met here since I moved here in 1982 will be using public transportation to get around the city. Maybe later you might expand the video to more specifically guide folks out the the area. ...Oh, you assume our intrepid gay tourists will either take a bike, Uber, or Lyft-not public transportation. Too bad. They could also walk across the Golden Gate Bridge if they started out early enough.

I (Andy) was literally a Muni street car driver on the F line for many years when we lived in SF. We start off the video reminiscing as we make our way from Union Square to Castro for breakfast and to walk around Dolores Park, the other “gay beach.” Also, we assume anyone can use google maps on their smart phone depending on their starting location to get the trail head down to Marshall’s. From our experience, many viewers are watching our video to see Marshall’s not a play by play of our public transit journey. That would be a different video indeed! A simple highlight of available options is typically appreciated. But we’re happy to hear you like the historic streetcars as much as me!! Truly a gem in SF! Oh-and for anyone needing to know which bus to confirm what Google will tell you: the 30 will get you close, the 43 will get you closer, and the 28 will take you right there to the train head.

Back in the day (70s-80s) we called this "bad boy beach."

I was there with my friend over 20 years ago and there was a huge beached whale. We walked up the rocks a little bit and chatted with a ranger. A naked man on his cell was strolling by the carcass oblivious to the dead thing he was walking by just steps away. 🤣

It’s not so hidden. We all know about it. Of course it’s frequently covered in fog but when it’s sunny it’s glorious!
@robstockton2463Ай бұрын
I’d say not so much “hidden” as a little difficult to get to if you don’t have a car.

Thanks I've been to San Francisco many times, since 1985, I think I heard of Baker' beach not Marshall's. I love the cable cars, and trolly's cars, also the Muni and BART. Once took the BART, from the airport to downtown to go a motel that a friend of mine and I were staying at. Yes, were right t about the weather, as one time in June, got cold visiting Alcatraz, and I had a sweat-shirt and light jacket

Thanks for sharing your SF memories!! We love the cable cars too! And agreed, I (Trai) thought it was Baker on our first beach date many years ago, but Andy knew Marshall’s was the one to be at! 😉
