People really need to stop using the 80's thing when describing guitars and amps. Because describing something as 80's-sounding is like saying a singer sounds like Justin Bieber. It's not a compliment. At all. lol
@lironamsalem71494 ай бұрын
In my opinion the 80s rock era has the best guitar tones of all time. All the modern high gain stuff are cool, but not great as the 80s era.
@thegrandpencil43744 ай бұрын
@@lironamsalem7149 Yeah, because nothing says great tone like Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, Slaughter and Mr. Big. lol. There is a reason Seattle happened, and why bands never emulated glam again. It was cheesy and over-produced and closer to Whitney Houston than Black Sabbath. As far as GNR goes, though, they were a lot more classic-rock sounding than everyone else at the time (reverb on Steven's snare notwithstanding), and changed their tone on the Illusions accordingly.

@@thegrandpencil4374 I think the opposite - 80s tones are really raw without a lot of gain and massive effects unlike the modern stuff. Most iconic and greatest guitarists and most influential players raised from this era. However, it's all about taste, and everyone likes different styles.

@@lironamsalem7149 Yes, if you like that sound, that's fine. I didn't mean to disparage you. I just think that most people are turned off by the suggestion that something sounds 80's, which is why I originally commented. The Silver Jubilee is used by a lot of players that don't have an 80's sound, like John Frusciante, for instance. So pigeon-holing the amp by saying it's an 80's amp is not the best idea... especially considering how nice it is. It just sells it short, imo.

You’re in the wrong part of KZbin. 80s is the best era of guitar. And that’s not nostalgia. I was born two decades after the 80s.
