Sweetwater (USA) is selling these now $699.00 as a pre-order. I understand the appeal/niche of a low watt amp but I think it's a bit pricey considering other choices at around the same price range. Like others have mentioned the lack of an effects loop is a deal breaker for me as well. Sounds great though!
@LJPV77712 жыл бұрын
I suppose if someone was totally obsessed with Slash, they wouldn't see a problem in buying it, but I think you can get a new kick-ass combo for that price, maybe even a used half stack.

Likely deliberate to avoid the copyright police as it's a piece from a big artist. Rob and other youtube guitarists often play licks and solos slightly wrong or cut them short for this reason.

If the venue mics up the amp the sound engineer can turn you up through the PA so it should be fine in that case. More ideal for small venues though because you need more head room for large venues really.

@user-hm8xi5zt5c3 жыл бұрын
Most definitely.. I rarely go past 4 volume.
@MaggaraMarine12 жыл бұрын
There's a volume knob for a reason and IMO it doesn't sound bad at all if you don't crank it (I have my volume at 1 on my Laney VC30 and it sounds great). And in bedroom you don't need to have the best tone ever. Amps are there to make you sound louder. Of course today even the stage players might not need that much power because they can rely on the PA to make them louder and the amps are just miced. You could even gig with a Roland Microcube. :D

@petarsutaric69099 жыл бұрын
+Bernie Adams why?
@twidget599 жыл бұрын
Why? Really, it's just kind of the way they communicate. Rob's in a band, so he's usually looking over at one of the other bandmates, how you communicate. The two of them have been working together for years, and often switch up the tone on amps for each other, and it's usually with a look.

I have a Hughes & Kettner, it can run a 18, 5, or 1 watt. One watt of tube power is actually loud, I almost never take it off 1 watt when I'm practicing without a drummer. My friend has a 1 watt BlackStar it is way loud through a 4X12 cab.

This is the very first one that really sounds good enough with Les Paul but also Stratocaster is tasty and juicy. That Knockin´on heaven´s door was what was I waiting for, nice clean sound and good enough and then than hard pushing turbo but still very controllable high gain. Before this I thought 5watts is nothing and 1w is a damn lousy joke comparing to those 50w and 100w heads with 400w cabinet. 5w is a lot when it comes to tube amps. I have never liked Marshall clean sounds but this is good enough no matter if you have LP or Strat. p.s. I would have loved to hear that sound of a double penetration ;)

I've got the little 5 watt Laney Lionheart, and believe me, 5 Watts from a proper tube amp is more than enough to annoy the neighbours. This Marshall 5W sounds really good, I like it. If this was out 2 years ago I may not have bought the Laney, though the Laney is very good too and I have no regrets. They have the same concept in tube configuration, "oversized" cab, an excellent celestion speaker, 2 inputs, 2 channels. BTW, could it be time for a revised how to sound like Slash for > 1000?

with the neck pickup selected, Slash tends to dig his pick to get slight pinch harmonics like in paradise city. it makes the neck pickup sound less deep and helps it ring through.

Its all about Andertons having a world exclusive - if only they put as much effort into customer service. I e-mailed them before buying a Gibson Les Paul traditional, asking if they had any 'standout' flame tops. The reply was, 'if buying online you will get the first one we come to on the shelf'. needless to say I shopped somewhere that could supply me with pictures of the guitar I was buying,

Guys in another review of Slash's amp, the 100 watt version, they almost nailed the tone but it still was sounding thin until Rob changed the strings to 11's. Slash uses 11's too, or probably used to use them, not sure actually, but anyway if you've got your own amp and you're trying to get Slash's tone, you might as well try gauge 11 and see how much that helps, it made a huge difference with Rob and he was spot on with the 11 gauge.

Probably a lot of guys out there like me who own a lot of Marshall heads already have numerous cabs most loaded with V30s. I am not a Slash follower but would buy it for its sound and low watt heads are what I have been buying recently. Bottom line is I do not need a combo and would plug this amp right into a larger cab. I already do that with my class 5 . Come out with a head only version and I would buy it.
