Starting to see a few rat reds and some small trout around fourchon. It’s good to see some new fish coming back there. Fishing has been tough since the last hurricane.

red fish decline is a result of the ample amounts of bow fishing. Ponds that they would normally rest are getting shot up every night.

The lady fish have been insane around the fourchon area. We had to fish on the bottom to catch any Trout. We did catch a few small redfish

That's weird I'm in Texas and the marsh has been awful quite with reds definitely few and far between not what it was last year. But I have been tearing them up on rocks and oysters in the bay

Hope ya enjoyed CCA NShore Banquet,meant to introduce myself to ya but missed the chance,unfortunately. Got a buddy destroying fine reds in Delacroix area and I think Lake P gonna be loaded up this Fall,if not already. Grass beds re-emerging and have seen/spooked bunch and one of my spots LOADED with white shrimp,so no doubt specks should follow🎣🐠🎩

I believe it has to be the pogy boats. I remember seeing so many dead big reds, trout, jacks, basically anything wiped out behind them. That said I've had early great success at the point this year. Way more the normal. But it's not like the pogy boats can get into that bay.

Yep!!!! Time too get the pogie boats out of the gulf.

I like a 7-foot medium-light-powered rod with moderate action because I fish braid as my main line. If I were a mono guy, I'd probably go with medium power.

What is the reason the trout migrate into the marsh?

Food

It honestly seems like ever since the pogie boats started pushing their way in and becoming a real issue is when we started seeing a decline in all fish numbers. Thats the only thing that has changed at the same time we started seeing fish population decline. It hit specs first as they are more vulnerable being inshore - offshore in the same areas as these numb nuts running purse seines and also since pogie is more of their main diet. (more so than Reds and Bass) I think its now effecting Redfish/Bass because we now have more Specks forging on food deeper in the marsh where pogie boats cant reach. And not to mention all of the bull reds and specks that are caught in the nets and wasted. You can always tell when a pogie boat has ran an area by all the dead bull Redfish floating in that 3-4 square mile area and the filthy stinky water. There is a reason pogie boats are banned on the east coast and just about everywhere else.

Nature cycles, it happened in the 80’s with redfish
@farmassist62122 жыл бұрын
gill netting was the primary cause
@Fishman12 жыл бұрын
@@farmassist6212 hill nets definitely had an effect but since hill nets have been removed , redfish have cycled up and down. Weather cycles, freeze, hurricanes and many other natural causes.

The rod and reel person never hurt the # of saltwater fish. Guides Bow hunting every day will clear out an area. But nets of any kind is the main problem. Think about this only two states allow the pogy type operation where do U think they all work. Nets kill grass and bait which is live blood of fish #$
