I remember fishing that tournament! Me and Aaron and Mark were fishing deep humps for spotted bass. I caught mine dropping a spoon though

I use the gamakatsu split shot #1 hooks too, I just wish the eye of the hook was a tad bit bigger... but overall a great hook, and I do the same thing.. I bend the hook point upwards a tiny bit. I believe Gamakatsu came out with an Aaron Martens version of this hook that comes bent upwards from factory now.

Yea I had problems with the polamor knot slipping around the hook eye but never thought of using the uni knot , I use it for jigs and stuff but will definelty try that knot on the drop shot
@v8consumption8 жыл бұрын
wow the best knot is palomer and works great for dropshot to. I would never use this knot

Thanks for the videos, I enjoy them. I know this has nothing to do with fishing but what did you do to smash you left thumb? Haha, I smashed mine a few weeks ago it taking forever for the nail to grow out to get rid of the blood. And don't tell me it was because of the g force of your hook sets.

Hey hes the ELITE PRO here i say he ties whatever knot he wants, KVD ties a Palomar, Amart ties a uni. And A Mart has Kvd when it comes to a drop shot and a shakey head, hes a god at those techniques, kevins just ya know, kevin. One of the best overall bass anglers to ever pick up a rod. Rick Clunn and him are on a plane all their own.

@chengsterboi07 for braid and mono i always tie a palomar. for fluorocarbon, which aaron is using in this video i use his knot. palomar knots break very easily on fluorocarbon.
@funtopunch12 жыл бұрын
A high quality, high strain fluorocarbon tied with a palomar will break under noticeably less tensile duress than with the uni. This has been derived from testing with tensile resiliency machines time and time again. If you are using a quality fluorocarbon, it'll probably hold up with the palomar. It will, however, hold under far more stress via a uni. The knot-retention performance between these two knots is amplified with the use of purer fluorocarbons thanks to their inherent hardness.

I bend my treble hook sideways on my crank baits, increases your hook rate big time.

I though a #1 w as the best all.round hook for dropshotting bass..no?
@Basshunter18611 жыл бұрын
why not just tell gamagatsu to make a aaron martins drop shot hook? so theres no guessing on the bending
@justinpeters99508 жыл бұрын
LMAO never had a prob with the Palomar knot with a dropshot I use 8 lb fluorocarbon but I've broke fish off with this uni knot and seen Aron martens break off before

How did the hook break did u set the hook to hard or something what rod action and what lb test line where u using
@keith12128310 жыл бұрын
The palomar knot not working with flouro is a total fallacy. It is the only knot I use with it, when tied correctly it is all you need for flouro. I have tested it a lot with a scale, do the same and you will see it retains 90% + strength with flouro. Here's a good refresher watch?v=L4lGUK_12Uo

dunno the english name for this knot, but the the knot displayed in this video, "dropshot auf barsch" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH63o4OGhbqjbNE&feature=channel_video_title), is even easier to tie and better in holding the hook in the right angle.
@zlidewayz11 жыл бұрын
why tie a uni knot when you can go palomar knot on a dropshot
