Growing up first generation Mexican-American Martha always felt like my white grandmother. Me and my older sister would love watching her show on TV as kids. She is what introduced us to a lot of what is American culture. Thank you ❤️
@cjosborne94302 жыл бұрын
"My older sister and I loved watching her show. ("I" is always the subject; "me" is always the object. Plus, we put others before ourselves.) Example of the usage of "me" is as follows: "My sister gave me her laptop." ("Me" is the object of what your sister "gave.") "The Boss told me to pick up Martha Stewart at the airport. ("Me is the object of who the boss "told.") "She helped introduce us to American culture." (Extraneous words not necessary.)
@jchavez20102 жыл бұрын
@@cjosborne9430 Really? This is where we’re at? You have too much time on your hands.
@cjosborne94302 жыл бұрын
@@jchavez2010 Yes, "this IS where we're at!" (Your ending a sentence with a preposition is proof!) You may note that you asked a question while I answered with a statement. Years ago, I had some wonderful English teachers; they are, evidently gone forever. However, there are simple rules and mnemonics that make English easier to remember. (American English is a complicated language; its source is chiefly British, due to the time of our founding, with strong influences of French, Spanish German, Dutch, Scandinavian, Yiddish, and East Indian, and smatterings of every other language on earth. I respect Mr. Real and adore his post. He seems like a wonderful man. His message was intimate and thoughtful, sharing and caring, warm and giving. However, there is NO shame in using correct English. I have SO much respect for Mr. Real that I want to show him an easy way to tell the difference between "I" and "me." He does not know who I am, so there is no insult in doing a favor. Many people notice, and glaring English errors muddy any message. If he gets these few things clear, his message is even MORE clear and more compelling! That is how much I care for a man I do not know and will never meet. I WANT HIM to be the best he can be! For example, if someone mixed up "their" and "there," I would use a mnemonic to point out that the word indicating people contains the words "he" and "I" and "heir." And the word indicating a place, contains the words "here" and "there." That is an easy mnemonic that will solve that error for millions. No, I do not have "too much time on my hands." When it comes to helping people (that is what I am doing) there is never enough time. You are conflating "caring" with "mocking." If I were mocking, I would laugh, call them an idiot, or a moron, and insult them by questioning how they used their time. You too tried to "help" Mr. Real, by fighting an imaginary battle for him. Have you never heard the adage about, "teaching a man to fish?" My help is positive and has the potential of lasting a lifetime. Your "help" is negative, combative, accusatory, misguided, and evanescent.
@jchavez20102 жыл бұрын
@@cjosborne9430 First, I am not trying to help Sergio Real. I’m sure he’s perfectly capable taking care of himself. My statement was simply that most of us on here just wanna see Martha make soup and stew without being interrupted with a grammar lesson. That’s just as annoying as reading that someone is “having a garage sell”. Second, you forgot to mention my incomplete sentence. My bachelor’s degree is in science, but I still can form a proper sentence when necessary. Third, you should never insist on helping someone who doesn’t ask for it. Only offer help. It is otherwise considered rude. Fourth, I apologize if I offended you by stating you had too much time on your hands. That was rude and I am clearly in the same position. Fifth, I am done here.
@cjosborne94302 жыл бұрын
@@jchavez2010 Thank you for your civil reply. My degree is in Public Affairs; a political science subsection that studies government. (I am enthralled with the notion of people governing themselves. It is such a powerful concept; never before managed in history.) My (science major) spouse believes that there is a whole lot of "rudeness" to government. As for "offering help," I am handicapped and I love it when folks open doors, step aside, hold cars, make room, or aid my progress in any way. Stopping to "ask" if I need help (which I obviously do) puts me in a position of being dependent or "waiting patiently." I appreciate the simple elegance of "just doing it." I was raised on a farm and when something needed doing, we just did it. You are probably correct that I'm not terribly genteel. (The last time I used that word, someone accused me of being anti-Semitic.) Thanks again for the decent reply.

Any good stew or soup takes the time to layer the flavors. I made the veal blanco using pork instead because veal shoulder is hard to come by in my neck of the woods. It's just as good. Use pork shoulder. ( I learned it from Emeril incidentally) . I always add a few TBS of apple cider vinegar to stocks -- the acid helps leach out the collagen (gel) from the bones.

All the health books I have read have stated that people should eat unrefined natural salt and not refined salt so I would use unrefined sea salt for all your recipes instead of kosher salt. It should improve your health. I love sea salt and use it in my cooking all the time. It is my favourite type of salt.
