I was impressed by Martha’s cooking and carrying on a conversation simultaneously. People can do it in their homes but if you have to do it in front of an audience and a camera takes a lot of skill. She’s fantastic!

Next to a woman of average height, you can see how petite Joan Rivers was. Her spirit so filled a room she "felt" like a much bigger person. I think she was a beautiful woman - even before the cosmetic procedures. It rather breaks my heart when I am reminded by something that she says that she believed herself to be physically unattractive. Beautiful inside and out - I miss her.

This was such an interesting time in Joan's life, and you can really see her vulnerability. I believe the play she is talking about is a semi-autobiographical play she wrote about her career and she toured with it in Los Angeles, Glasgow, and London between 2007 and 2008 before shutting it down right before premiering in New York. She became so self-conscious about it being shot down by the New York critics after a play she performed in the early 70's called "Fun City" was poorly review by critics. This was a difficult period in Joan's career where she was pretty much booted out of doing the red carpet, and was being hired less and less for large scale stand up gigs. I think she retreated to New York quite a bit during this time of her career, and Joan always returned toward stand up and theatre acting as her solace during times of struggle to be given well-paid platforms on television and film. It's amazing that Joan didn't have a bigger career as an actress which I believe is what she always strived to be, but was always put down into hosting roles on television. I think she really cherished her friendships in New York, and always felt more relaxed as a New Yorker even though she was snubbed by Broadway so many times.
