Mortal Kombat is the prime example of what happens when the higher ups in suits think they know what the audience wants better than they do. As cheesy as the original movie was, it actually followed the story of the games and had some great fight scenes. Thats pretty much all you needed. The 2021 Mortal Kombat was just like "WE GOT BLOOD AND FATALITIES!" and ignored everything else. Not to mention the awful awful Cole Turner character that not a single person wanted or asked for

Thank you Chris for Calling out Army of the Dead. I was so hyped for this film and even seeing this at home felt like a Waste of Time. Just the Barebones Concept of a planned Heist getting blindsided by a Zombie Infestation in Las Vegas,or a Group of People Planning a Heist due to the Infestation creating a Once in a Lifetime opportunity could've been fun. Too serious and wasn't any Fun At all.

It was way too damn long, and yeah the zombie infestation should have happended DURING the heist, and be another problem in an already complicated dangerous heist, like a three-way battle between the crew, casino security/Las Vegas cops and the zombies.

You know what's even worse? The plot and characters are lifted from Train to Busan 2 Peninsula. I was watching Train to Busan 2 after I saw Army of the Dead and my jaw hit the floor, when I realized. He didn't even do a good job of disguising the lift. He shifted some of the tone, re-skinned some characters, and changed some details, but at it's heart it's the same movie but worse.

Reloaded and Revolutions are lesser films but carry on the Matrix vibe and feature compelling ideas/visuals. The Animatrix is a marvelous bit of worldbuilding that stands on its own while enhancing the live action films. Aaaaand then there’s Resurrections. I’ve seen far worse films that didn’t frustrate me half as much lol

I just watched the matrix and i kind of liked it. It was an interesting new angle to the story. Although i would like to see it again with subtitles to figure everything out. The main problem with the Wachowskis is the massive amount of exposition there always is.

I strongly believe that it’s Matrix 4s fault for me getting a fever, I swear the longer I sat through it the 2nd time, the worst I felt and by the end of the night, I had a headache and ended with a fever…. I just don’t know what the hell people want from a Matrix movie. Everyone hated the sequels then came back expecting a groundbreaking movie like the first. And what you got was another deconstruction of narrative, just like the sequels. You can tell Lana’s interest was less on the action this time, and I think if the action had been better people would be more forgiving. Instead, they have to engage with the story and it seems no one wants to do that. To think that Lana only made this movie as a cynical exercise or a cash grab or just to piss off fans is such a narcissistic take. Believe it or not, she didn’t make it just to piss YOU off. Maybe you need to evaluate what you’re actually demanding from these movies, then take a step back and analyze what the movies are giving you.

Other than Mortal Kombat, yeah, pretty accurate. Without Remorse is at best a 6 out of 10. Very mediocre movie. Remember films like The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger? How come Hollywood is incapable of making films like these anymore? Even if you have to copy and paste these films, do so. Hollywood is becoming more lazy with their screenplays by the day.

The funny thing about Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City being on the list, is not only as they mentioned Zack Snyder directed the remake to George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, but also Romero was supposed to write and direct the first Resident Evil movie but it cost too much so they hired Paul W.S. Anderson.

You're half correct. It wasn't just expensive but also the script was soo bad, fans of Romero had to step in and say it was shit. Here's an example from the script: Chris Redfield is a wildlife shaman type of guy who absolutely has zero personality.

My problem with the Tom & Jerry movie is the same one that plagues 99% these animation/live-action adaptations. They almost always overshadow the animated title-characters for the human-actors. These movies make their title-characters become secondary-focuses. I didn't pay to watch Chloe Grace-Moretz's struggles with her hotel-job, James Marsden's cop-character being transferred, or NPH's grips with becoming a father; I paid to watch cartoon-characters being fun in the real-world (or some approximation to it.) | I get it, though. Animation is expensive and you gotta get these parents to watch these movies by putting in some TV actors they've heard of. It doesn't have to be this way. Both Paddington movies are examples of doing this sort of premise right. Those movies kept their focus on the titular animated-character and his effects on the world he lives in.

Martin's list seemed like a bunch of direct-to-video stuff that now is considered legit because Netflix and other online platforms became the source in 2020-2021. I didn't see Cry Macho because I could not get out of my head the threesome involving Eastwood in The Mule...he was 88 in that movie. I know he's not a withered old man but this is the opposite extreme, thinking of Mae West in Sextette.

space jam acting was so bad worse than drake acting in degrassi same level, and i watched these two in their entirety, man i had to walk out and think life decisions.
