Brand new Martin M36. I can see why people love this guitar. It does everything well at a great price point.
As usual there is no post processing to the sound.

It’s great that you chose multiple genres for your demos, they are the most pleasant on guitar review KZbin

Thank you! It is difficult to figure out a guitars sound just by one example of a genre that you don’t even play! So I try to play many styles.

Great review, all your reviews are great Dave. This is a unicorn that you do not see much or less a thorough review. Great playing too. I like your choice of music and not some Billy Strings fast bluegrass. Thanks !!!

I just bought a used one 4 days ago from Music Villa in Bozeman for $2200. (1) I own a D28 1937 Authentic Custom Shop with Level 1 aging which has a retail price of $9499 with $650 K&K pickup in it. I appreciate good guitars, especially high end Martins. I went in thinking I was going to buy a 000-18 or 000-28. I played several that sounded great. Then I saw the used M36 on the wall and played it a while. I did an A/B comparison with the 000's and just preferred the sound of the M36. One thing I'm sure helped the M36 is it was owned by a very good finger picking guitarist in Bozeman. It was setup just perfect! It had upgraded nut and saddle. I love it so much that I think my D28 1937 Authentic will soon be sold. I like the strong hard sound when flat picked. I also prefer its modern neck profile over the D28.

I have an M36 and it’s my main guitar. Great for finger picking , flat picking and strumming. Very comfortable to play. The larger top, forward shifted scolloped bracing and the shallow body depth give it a nice mellow bass with clean trebles.

Really nice demo. A question. Why do you have your guitar tuned down 1/2 step?
@acousticmusicnthings
@acousticmusicnthings 17 күн бұрын
I keep them there for a couple of reasons, but mainly because it suits my voice better for a lot of the stuff that I play, but also on certain guitars it decreases the tension on the guitar which can be good for vintage guitars and just easier to play/bend strings.

@@Motrin-Hydrate Well worth the price and a beautiful sounding highly versatile instrument. I agree with others that the M-36 is an unsung hero of Martin guitars. Could not be happier with the choice.

@ I recently purchased a D-18 (my first high end Martin) been banging on a Mexican GPC for more than ten years. And I just bought a truck. As much as I’d like to buy an M-36 I’m fairly certain my wife would change my ability to play.

Thanks for the review, good quality sound on your video. The M36 despite the shallow body depth, from what i can hear from the video, it does seem to still have quite good bass, you reckon?
@acousticmusicnthings

It does still have good bass. Not quite as boomy as a dreadnaught, but close. More balanced and way easier to record.

I have a mid 70’s M36, great tone, but the narrow nut makes it sit in the case most of the time. I heard they increased nut width on later models?
