Truly acerbic. Saw him opening for Robert Klein in 1974. The fans came for Klein, but Mull won them over immediately. For that, he was the perfect host for Fernwood Tony.

Saw Martin twice 40 years ago, ish. Once in Tahoe, with KC and the sunshine band, and once in Seattle at Bumbershoot. Unique doesn’t quite fit, and boy was he funny. You just wanted to share how cool an experience it was to see him live. 👍🤪🏳️‍🌈

I remember seeing this as on the Smothers Brothers when I was a kid! I didn't understand it then. Seeing it now, I don't think it works very well. It's mostly cheap laughs. Martin Mull is a very funny guy, but this is far from his best bit.
