Hard to hypothesize on intent, but when Pospisil came in, it looked more like he was attempting to make contact with Marchand’s body and Marchand was kind of getting pushed around and ended up in a bad position. I still think it’s a play that you’ve got to give a penalty to Pospisil for, but I also don’t know why Marchand thought he was doing. The goalie froze the puck immediately. You’re allowed to play until the whistle, but even before the whistle it’s not okay to just hack a goalie. He can say he was “going for the puck” but the puck is nowhere in sight because it was frozen by the goalie. Marchand still finding a way to be a rat here and there even though he’s gotten better with it
