Part 1: • Martin Shkreli on How ...
--------
Martin Shkreli disclosed spending a staggering $20 million on lawyer fees during his federal case, which ultimately led to his conviction on three charges of securities fraud. Shkreli shared insights into his trial experience, revealing that he was never interested in a plea deal, even if it meant no jail time. This reluctance resulted in a prolonged legal battle, with significant expenses funneled towards high-profile attorney Ben Brafman and other law firms.
Brafman, known for representing celebrities like Puff Daddy, Jay-Z, and Michael Jackson, was described by Shkreli as worth every penny. Despite an arduous court process, Shkreli highlighted the systemic difficulties of winning a federal trial, citing biases like the prosecutors' advantage of presenting their case first. While he celebrated five "not guilty" verdicts, he was devastated by the three convictions but maintained his innocence, affirming his belief that he was penalized for raising drug prices, not actually committing fraud.

There is no way that it cost $20 million to try this case. Simply impossible. If he did pay that to his attorney or attorneys then they seen him coming from a mile away. Marty is cool ... but what i dont get it, he spent time in prison claiming his innocence. Theres no way today, like publish all details, to show that you indeed were innocent? I mean, that should be worth something. Seems to be a very good story behind all this, hes just hinting a few pieces - but, when you accept it all, all the time spent in prison ... well, then i guess u did understand why u were in prison.

he's not saying he's innocent, he's saying that he didn't REALLY do anything wrong. he broke the law but he didn't do anything wrong, nobody lost money, but what he did was still technically against the law. that's what he said multiple times

@@agsdjklshadsabn But why would he reject any sort of plea deal, including one with no jail time (as he says). Not sure what the difference between innocent and "doing nothing wrong" is ...the way he describes all sounds more like they wanted to punish him for being succesful (or something..)...but yea, most likely he broke some laws, i just get the impression he doesnt think so.
@agsdjklshadsabn
@agsdjklshadsabn 13 күн бұрын
@@marchechter5047 why would he reject that plea deal... i have no idea, it's literally pure ego hahaha. i think he's just saying that, if his lawyer told him he's looking at 10 years vs no jail time with a plea deal, i'm sure he'd come to his senses and take the plea deal. for the 2nd part, you're mostly correct, what he's describing is being morally right (doing nothing wrong since nobody lost money), but legally wrong, and he's saying they went out of their way to punish him legally for something they know isn't REALLY wrong, they would have left him alone if it wasn't for him having a name in the media for raising prices and abusing the big insurance companies (which is why he says they're punishing him for making a lot of money and being successful). of course he did break the law, he was found guilty by normal people on the jury who have no hidden agenda. i'm pretty sure what he did was obviously wrong too, if i'm not mistaken he straight up lied to his investors or paid them back in a ponzi scheme type way, but technically nobody lost money so he's saying he didn't REALLY do anything wrong
