I can tell you that I just watched this new video and checked my subscription . I was unsubscribed, so I resubscribed. This is happening daily with many of the channels I subscribe to. Can't say why this is happening, but I'd bet KZbin has everything to do with it.

There's some functions of YT I don't understand as well, such as the little 'i' box that shows up during a video. First of all, that little box only shows up for like 3 seconds and if you miss it, there's no way (that I know of) to get it back. Secondly, it shows up in the middle of a video, so YT expects me to stop watching a video I'm in the middle of to start watching another video? By accident I found out you can shut that 'feature' off, so I did...lol.

When people access KZbin it throws up a whole selection of different videos on different channels. Hopefully some of them may even be of interest to the viewer. The more Likes and Subscribes you get on your channel, the more KZbin will present your channel to new viewers. The purpose is to sell stuff by the many advertisers on KZbin. If you opt not to monetize your channel KZbin will punish you by not presenting your channel to new viewers. KZbin also strikes back by cancelling the Subscriptions of many of your existing Subscribers. That is why KZbin encourages you to remind viewers to Subscribe. HTH.

I do monetize but until last fall did not allow mid-roll ads and then realized I may be being penalized for that. Some videos now get 5 times the views and the new ones all come from google search which I never had before. I just know they own the ball and will follow their lead.
