I am now overseeing both the Millington & Cordova locations. They are taking up all of my time. I am pretty tired, but we’re closed Christmas Day so at least I know I have that day off! lol

So watch where you step. Human excrement may be underfoot. Pretty sure that if you don't have a home, you don't have a restroom. Therefore, from what you read, you can't be fined for a human bodily function... not even in a public space. God Bless America.

That's true in a lot of encampments. They put in some portapotties in LA and the crooks took them over and charged the homeless to use them. What a world!

Great video Chuck. What's your take on California RVers parked without moving for months-on-end on streets that have city signs posted "NO Parking Any Day 7pm-5am". Do you think those RVs could justifiably be moved to adjacent streets that allow overnight parking?
@ImnotChuck. Жыл бұрын
When I see the pics of dilapidated RVs parked along the side of roads and streets, I think it's a double shame. For one, it's a shame that some people are having to live like that, and two, that otherwise nice areas are being turned into eyesores by the RV's. I have a heart for the homeless and want them all to have a clean, safe place to live, but I know that some choose to live the way they do. I really don't have an answer for the problem. Thanks for watching and for your thoughtful question.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the homeless. Coincidentally, my home state just enacted a law prohibiting camping on state land that is not specifically designated for camping. In doing so, the state has set itself up for a lawsuit very similar to Martin v Boise, and which the state will most likely lose.

Interesting. I would add that the elimination of SRO's in many urban areas has contributed greatly to homelessness. Some of that was due to development and property values, but others per regulations and zoning. The government breaketh then taketh to fixeth. Well try to fixeth.

I had to Google SRO, and I am glad I did. They certainly did leave a void in the housing choices for low income people. I remember a boarding house in the little town where I was a teen. It only had maybe a dozen rooms, but it was always full, and now I know why. Thanks again.

In December of 2019 Ruling In Favor of Homeless Stood but Early in 2020 The City of of Boise Took a 3rd bite at the Apple with A New Ordinance of Disorderly Conduct as "Public Camping" LOL This too is Unconstitutional under 8th Anendment just as the 2 prior Ordinances Were. I'm Fighting a Disorderly Conduct Citation Now which Was Written in June of 2020. Its Now September 2023. Any Bets Who Wins this One ??

Am I to understand that homeless people who insist on living in public areas and refuse to find housing for themselves have the money to run and access this website?
@ImnotChuck.2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but I will try to answer. I am the maker of this video and I am not homeless; KZbin is the host of this video and they are not homeless. I made the video in order to explain some of the history behind the US Supreme Court decision, and what the decision means for the homeless. So, no one who is homeless has any financial involvement in this video or the host site. However, many homeless people have cell phones and access to public wi-fi, so they can potentially watch this video. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

@@dtaylorstephens9067I would be very interested in your opinion of the 9th Circuits ruling, and what is the effect on Boise.
@dtaylorstephens90674 жыл бұрын
I agree with the ruling. Mayor Bieter kicked the homeless out of a camp downtown in December 2009, it was 20'. His reasoning was that there were drugs and people being attacked and attacking each other in the camp. But it was evident there was not enough room in the Night Shelters, where in the heck were these people to go? Like being in a tent is everyone's choice in 20' weather! But better than sitting on a riverbank with nothing between you and the elements. We do not have a problems like Seattle and Portland, but we do not want it to become a Seattle or Portland! So it is a big problem and not without the problems that will come with the ruling. The new mayor, Lauren McLean, campaigned against Bieter on this ever going problem. It will be interesting to see how she proposes to handle the situation. It is in her lap now!

Good job. ..yet, I can say. .since I've been living on the road since the early 70's. .there's always been attacks on people living out of backpacks and vans. Back in the 70's Florida would arrest you and put you on a road gang if they caught you hitchhiking ..and in many coastal towns in California you would be instantly arrested if you made the mistake of stopping there. ..so IE. There has always been a battle between society and non-conventional travelers. .this is what Rob and others here on KZbin never understand ...the only thing that has changed are the valid or invalid reasons for why cities and states decide to come down hard on street people and unconventional travelers. ..Back in the day, they harassed us simply because we represented scary unknown things to them ..which was a silly overreaction. Now, they're reacting to very real problems coming from an invasion of so-called homeless people destroying their downtown tourist areas. .. this is a very real problem on the west coast. California has lost huge amounts of money from its tourist industry because they refuse to deal with this out of control problem. .. As this problem gets larger. .you can be absolutely sure that other states are watching what is going on and are working on solutions that ensure what they see elsewhere doesn't happen to their state. .. and since the norm in history is to overreact. .you need to be realistic about this. Stay away from van builds and the RTR because like it or not. .cities don't see a nice cool thing going on there ...they see a Bunch of questionable people living in often beat up vans and cars invading their town. And if you don't want to be endlessly treated with suspicion. .stay away from living in box trucks , old vans and school busses ...I've lived in 3 School buses, a few box trucks and lots of vans over the years . And we even had the very first website on how to convert a school bus into a nice rolling home ..yet with all our history and knowledge about this, I can say the day's of living well in alternative RV'S are long over and will never return. .so just get a RV...keep it up and clean and stay far away from areas with large populations of homeless people and you'll be fine .Plus you'll be much more comfortable with something that has been designed well for living on the road. By the way ...this was Robs problem in a nutshell. His latest video spells it out perfectly. .if you are basically living in a shack on wheels with no shower and are pooping in a bucket. .of course your life is going to be a big disappointment and will feel like you are not living. ..you're just in survival mode . If that silly man had just bought a trailer or ponied up for a real cab over camper ..his life would have been a lot easier and nicer. But as I watched him over time, I came to the realization that Rob liked living in squalor and misery. ..and gets his rocks off by attacking others not like him ..still amazes me.that someone like that can find thousands of other people who agree with his toxic ideology.

Really? I hitchhiker all over SoCal from 72-79, never once got stopped by a cop..got a ride by one tho👍as for feeling disappointment about life while living in a van..WHAT?? I loved living in my OLD 93 conversion van..i think a lot of it is in your attitude..i don't totally disagree with you, but I don't think you can fairly speak for everyone..✌

@@cherbear1996 Never once in my comment did I ever imply that anyone ,me Included ..somehow should be disappointed with living in a van... my comment only addressed the absolutely real problem of trying to live in vans and school busses during an age where towns and cities all across the nation are having problems with homeless people living in these rigs on the streets and by default see anyone else living that way as probable problem. .. we're seeing van dwellers here on KZbin get treated this way more and more. .Deborah Dickerson just made a recent video on this. .the park host had so many problems with the new breed of vans dwelling anarchists. ..she freaked out and called the BLM cops on Deborah and her fellow van travelers ..they came and treated her well but also told her that they were having more and more problems with people living in vans ..so taking that into account and all the problems Bob had with the last RTR my point is valid. .if you want to get mislabeled and screwed with all the time. ... then by all means, get a.van or school bus ..but if you want to live a life mostly free from hassles then you have to act like an adult and just get a conventional RV . This especially relates to the west coast ..back east , they are not inundated with vans and school bus travelers . ... so they don't freak out about van groups getting together ..the west coast and desert areas are an entirely different thing ..If you were a savvy full-time traveler you would know that this is what's going on now ...
@TheMobileHomestead4 жыл бұрын
@@ImnotChuck. experience counts in everything. Especially if you're dealing with life on the road. ..nothing amazes and bothers me more than all the lack of knowledge I frequently see here on KZbin. ...just take the Walmart stopping overnight camping we see travelers talk about all the time ..not a single one of them know that this is happening because of crime and homeless people living full-time there and begging for money. .instead they think that this must be happening because rv types leave their slides out and whip out the barbecue grills ..talk about being disgustingly uniformed about the country you live in.
