I miss this America. When we were all United. I grew up in a very liberal household, but absolutely adore country music and artists like Martina! I love visiting the south and being around the folks over there. Politically I consider myself independent. I agree with some liberal values and some conservative values. I wish people could just chill TF out and not be butthurt over every small thing.

I get goose bumps also when I hear this song but then the tears start falling especially now with the way our country is being destroyed and our freedoms are being taken away one by one. I know this song is about abuse of women and I had no intentions of bringing up about what's happening now but a lot of the words in that song makes me think of what's happening now especially when she sings let freedom ring but our freedom is being taken away and also in the song she says let the guilty pay and that's how I feel about the people who are destroying our country and taking our freedoms away.

Let's just not forget that many of us men have been abused too, not so much physically but mentally and emotionally. It happened to me and I suffered as much as any physically abused woman. One day there will be a song for us men to make us stand up strong and not have to resort to violence to take a stand as the woman in this song did to make things right in her own world.

I come from a family that had grandparents that fought all the time when I was growing up. My grandfather was an alcoholic and my grandmother was very religious. I was only 1 of 14 grandkids that stayed with them and saw first hand what alcoholism and abuse can do to a married couple. They are both dead now but I hear songs like this and wish life wouldnt have been happier for the two of them. It affected me a great deal as a child and now as an adult that is why I dont drink.

Good for you Gary! Growing up we saw what alcohol can do to a person. Guess that's why my brother, both sisters and I drink very sparingly. I had my battles when I was younger; but with the help of a very good woman, and God, became the man I always should have been.

Great performance...and not only from the perspective of artistic merit. From subsequent posts, Miss McBride did this a few weeks after 9//11...so putting the performance within time context---all the more worthy. And btw...this from Quebec, Canada...almost ALL Canadians shed tears of grief along with you on that horrible day...and our Newfoundlanders showed it by offering up their homes to accommodate HUNDREDS of Americans stranded when flights back to the USA were diverted to Newfoundland...with never a WORD about "compensation"...

War brings out the worst in humanity but in response the best we have to offer will also be displayed. Few things are more beautiful than when people risk it all for whats right and emerge victorious. Sadly it seems the longer civil society exists in peace the more we forget the real value of liberty. Please teach your children why people must sometimes give their lives to keep liberty.
