It's incredibly in place. Martin is really good technically, but I always prefer Josh. Not only tone-wise, but entirely. Martin almost sounds out of place, but I still wish I had his knowledge of the neck.
@MrHaggyy

@TwangaBunga i like the two different takes on the solo. Josh went all on blues, Martin went more Jazzy. Which both fit the progression. It's just John himself went bluesy and Martin's lick might be a bit long for the phrasing of the song.

Probably not the first time I've commented on this as I find my way back here during most KZbin guitar watching, but... Josh Smith... Soooo much taste and control. So much to love about what he's doing. His opening bit, in a non-music way: He opens with a few notes. There are around three or four notes that you hear the most, and four or five that he layers underneath - little quieter notes that he's just putting there to add flavour, like a bay leaf in a slow cooker. And he does that all the way until he flicks the pickup to the bridge and melts face for a few notes, effortlessly sliding two note thirds (fifths?) in parts, but then smooths down again, with more thobbing two string note slides and beat perfect eighth (?) note melodies, but he was only warming you up, and then I get lost in it all and can only listen and savour the soul food. And then he just effortlessly ends it, and passes it back to the band as if it was nothing, because he knows he could rip it just as well in the next minute if he needed to.
