Revisiting this amazing performance by some incredibly talented musicians after the very sad news of Jeff Beck's passing. It's clear that we can draw a direct line from his groundbreaking improvisational style to Martin, Mark and crew, and I'm certain his music will continue to influence them and countless other musicians for years to come. Can't wait to hear the results! Long live the music, spirit, and soul of Jeff Beck!

Not refuting your opinion here with mine but I felt it had to be said. Although it's a lovely version these guys have done it's a far cry from the creativity of Jeff Beck. These guys are technically very good and it's all executed and recorded very neat and tidy, a pleasure to listen to, but it's not really the raw art in the way that Jeff Beck made ;). So I think the line from Jeff Beck doesn't go to these guys per se ;).

I honestly thought the production was not at the same level as the others in Martin's series. Of course, the musicianship is stellar. All the players are magnificent. But imo, there was too much video cutting from player to player. During the solos and fills, I'd like to see the person doing those. And not from a distance. It was a bit dizzying. Its not the quality of the recording; its more an issue of the camera editing.

I was on a Navy Destroyer in the Mediterranean in 1975-76 and the Electronics Techs handled our ship's entertainment system. "Blow By Blow" was played on a regular rotation. Every song on the album stuck in my mind for ten or twenty years, before I finally learned who it even WAS that I had been listening to! I used to listen to FM radio non-stop, and finally heard the DJ give credit to Jeff Beck after playing this, and I said "Whoa"! Of course, I had to go buy the CD, and still have that in my collection.

I don’t think they are haters. They are like the anarchist we see on TV. Their lives suck and want everybody else’s lives to suck too.

Stuart Kinzel I just don’t understand why they hate it. But I guess you’re right. They don’t hate the music per se. They hate becuase that’s their thing.

@@SiegDuPreez That seems to be it. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure out a hater. That way lies madness.

I nearly shat myself when I seen Martin and the band covered this song. Then I definitely shat myself when I seen Mark Lettieri was featured. I feel like the universe is spoiling me right now.

He is more of a jazz funk player I think. Sometimes I find that his phrasing is like sax players, with a mix of bit of traditional rock blues phrasing, which what makes his music so interesting.
