I have two of the things that strap to ur arm. I've had them forever. I bought them more or less as wall hangers but considering they're one piece of metal they strong as hell. They also are good for if someone attacks u with a bladed weapon u can use ur forearm to block just like a tonfa almost I love em

Nice selection today . When I make knucks for someone the first thing I do is make sure they know how to hold them properly, they break fingers easily. That trailing point karambit is modeled after the Bastinelli Mako , a nice alternative if you dont have $250 to spend .
@Karatemart2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Troy! Yeah, it’s definitely important to know how to hold them properly. The scary thing is that I see people online saying that all knuckles have to be held a specific way, but it is very dependent on the style of knuckles…especially the size of the palm grip. I’m just prepping right now to record next weeks video. Have an excellent week, my friend!

Kyle, if you're not too busy, we're having a BBQ in August, we need an expert to cut the watermelon. Oh, and we'll open the soda ourselves. Another great video, your enthusiasm is the best part but man, those slo-mo swings, awesome. So, I did vote for the machete over the sword because it's shorter and I can re-position quicker for another strike, although, if I could wield a sword like you, I wouldn't need a second swing. Happy July 4th., to you and yours', enjoy the weekend.
@Karatemart2 жыл бұрын
Hey Phil! You crack me up brother! I know you were joking, but honestly I’d love to join you for a BBQ if you were closer. It’s interesting reading through all the comments about why people would choose certain weapons. I originally chose the sword for myself, but there are so many advantages to that machete. I hope you have a fantastic 4th as well, brother!
@Hacksaw372 жыл бұрын
#1 Katana you need to keep your opponent as far away as possible. #2 Machete because I like one handed swords close enough. #3 Karambit My up close and personal, I have two bear claw serrated edged rip shredders. #4 push sword only as a last resort I hate them. #5 Knuckle dusters also last resort weapon, now if it was a full gauntlet weighted with metal knuckle protectors it might move up a couple of slots.

Kudos for actually test cutting in extended grip with the karambit. I was really surprised, you don't see that very often online, and it's definitely one of those things where without many hours of practice you can easily injure your fingers. You've clearly put in the hours training with these things 😉
@Karatemart2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephane! You are absolutely correct that without some practice, you can easily hurt your fingers using extended grip. As I’m sure you know, the design of the knife makes a huge difference as far as whether or not it is even a good idea to strike using extended grip. When I teach people extended grip, I always describe it as more of a long range scratching instead of considering it to be a slice like you would with other grips. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!

Okay, the karambit is nice, and as far as weapons someone might realistically carry around regularly, it's the winner. But, it's also close range, and wouldn't be my first pick if I could have any of these to defend myself from some psycho killer type. The machete looks nice as well, and would also make a good weapon, and beyond that, it's something you might realistically use if you do yard work or hiking/camping, so it's a good tool as well. And as a weapon, it definitely has more reach than the karambit. But...if some crazy killer was coming after me, I think the sword wins it. You got more reach with it than any of the others and you can not only slice but you can thrust with it better than the machete. So, in terms of overall usefulness for the average person on a day to day basis, the karambit or machete win, but if I was just grabbing one to defend myself from some kinda horror slasher, the reach of the sword makes it an easy winner.

Kyle! Another great video. I really liked that nata, just beastly looking. A basketball is not an easy target and you made it look like butter. However, distance could matter against your horror movie villain and that hammered katana would be my choice. Still, that tactical push sword with some slight modifications would be the bomb to have. It's a shame your spear didn't end up on the list. I'd take that in a heartbeat. I need to talk to you more about spear heads. Thanks for the Weapons Wednesday video! The first choice someone should pick to be in a horror movie is a dozen functioning brain cells. That would help most of the victims more than anything else. Speaking of horror movie moments, I get that "don't open that door" sensation whenever you shake a two-liter bottle. That's especially true when you have a short-bladed weapon. I tend to have a prejudice against butterfly knives, knuckle dusters, and karambits. Maybe one of those would be the best choice, but I wouldn't make that choice. In many ways, a katana feels too much like a cliche. In this case, the T10 tool steel would probably make this katana the best choice of this group. The extra reach and the great blade metallurgy would be a real advantage. If I had any training in Japanese sword martial arts, I wouldn't be able to resist the katana. Because I don't have that training, I feel a bit as if I'm pretending if I choose the katana. The Japanese Nata Machete looks great to me. I realize that the 440 stainless steel isn't as good as the T10. On the other hand, a machete fits my lower skill set and doesn't make me feel that I'm pretending. Where I live, there's literally not a tree within half a mile of my house. If I lived in a place with lots of trees, dense shrubs, and high weeds to attack, I'd have already ordered the machete for the horror movie that some yards can become. If I'm in the horror movie, I'm probably picking the katana.

@Karatemart2 жыл бұрын
I love that you are a video game fan like me! Silent Hill was a really fun game!
@Mr.Glidehook2 жыл бұрын
@@Karatemart Silent Hill series? Great games but mostly the weapons weren't over the top. Boards, pipes, at first, then you had to work your way up to the power weapons. I think starting out with this awesome machete would be a lot of fun. BTW I have the Night Watchman cane sword I bought from another site for much less money (sorry about that but you do have merch no one else does so I'll make up for it). I advise pulling the blade and tip off and painting the barrel another color like the metallic ones on regular canes. The all-black finish chips and is already easily identified by lots of people. When you're done with that, fix any rattling with a soft material wadded into the bottom. So: I have to ask, of all the games you've played, which weapon was your absolute favorite if you could sell it? You're a good man, sir. Love the hard work, you and Amanda keep it going!
@Supernaught002 жыл бұрын

Chased through the (woods) the nata machete to clear a path and make traps. Although the karambit is a nice EDC blade if I'm in the city. Also I love the push sword handle and brace but not the sword itself. I like the forearm protection as I love tonfas but the sword length would throw me off. A great bladed tonfa style weapon is zna productions weaponized ice skates. As they pose no threat to the user if you are grappling and are much more practical then the push sword if you're running. As for the horror movie villain you didn't give a lot of context so I'm just going to think that they have human strengths and weaknesses so I would go with the nata machete for as that is what I have the most experience swinging. As my homemade nata I told you about back in the homemade weapons video weighs 5 lb and I swing it 2-8 hrs a day the 1 lb nata would be like I got nothing in my hand. So clearing a path and running would be easy. Especially if I didn't have to lug my 40 lb day bag with me.
@andrewmanning33222 жыл бұрын
Main reasons I would not choose the katana is if I'm running the two handed grip would get caught up on more then the machete and I would not want to cut a path with it. Now if I was going to stand and fight yes the katana is great. However I'm someone who will not take someone else's life if I have the option to escape so my answer is still the machete

The two best weapons shown were the machete and the katana. both would be quite effective katana has a great reach even if I never seen katana in actual horror movie it would be quite effective. Machete would be great at slashing because of wide blade towards the end. it could also double as a tool for chopping things cutting the branches and to some degree clearing the woods which could be important if you want to survive in a horror movie. it doesn't have as good of a reach as a katana but its reach is still better than most weapons shown here. the fantasy sword is not completely unusable but to some degree it is a waste of perfectly good blade. the reason why weapons like rapier are very effective is because you can control them with just a small movement of a wrist. with this weapon you need the entire arm. two of those each on each arm would be interesting idea however if you want to use your hands you would have to take them off and then put them on again. if you have only one of those fantasy weapons you have the other hand but if you want to use both your hands you run into same problem and in an actual encounters this is very important. as far as karambit the blade can probably be quite useful even if it severely lacks range but it could be good beck up weapon. what I don't really understand is why modern Karambits have rings. Yes you can change grips but you waste time in quick draw department. This karambit is better than most because the ring is larger but it still seems somewhat unnecessary. to tell you the truth the hussar saber actually would be an excellent weapon in a horror movie. There thumb ring is easier to use and has many advantages in possibilities of attack. This type of saber can do whirls because of the thumb ring. and switch grips mid hit. of course just like katana it would take a while before you can fully utilize it machete for example is simpler to operate.
