Interesting you say that. That seems to be Netflix’s “in-house look” for many for their original shows. Shows like Dark, The Sandman, the first Narcos series (Not Mexico) has a lot of blues in it. I personally don’t mind it, I think it gives it can give shows a modern TV “look” but I do know that people have noticed some like it and some don’t.

It's just terrible writing for the sake of forced plot engineering. There are several examples of this throughout the show and really ruined it for me. You can literally see that the writers thought of the ending of the plot before they even pick up the pencil and became so devoted to how they planned to end each plot that they haphazardly create forced conflict to lead into making the ending happen the way they imagine it, and so the result is unrealistic and uncharacteristic choices and emotional outburst from key characters. Throughout the show many of the peak climax moments are caused by random illogical decisions caused by Jonah, his sister, and Ruth. Like Ruth and her partner running the Casino for example, obviously us as the audience knows how it will end before we even get to the end, but to anyone with sense it's so unbelievable that anyone would make these dumb decisions, even if overcome with emotion like they try to sell us on from Ruth, especially given the fact that us as the audience and Ruth and the other girl are well aware that their misgivings are mainly with Wendy and not Marty. After everything the cartel has taken from Ruth she's just gonna take over the casino that literally only exists as a vehicle to launder their money, and not let the laundering continue? Even though she's made aware that the FBI wants it to happen? So we're all expected to believe this instinctively street smart girl is just walking around casually with no fear of revenge after her entire family has been systemically killed due to the cartel? And why hurt Marty over that when she knows he's basically had no choice? And if she knows pissing off the cartel means harm to his whole family, how could she allow that to happen when she's basically a business partner with Jonah? It makes zero sense logically but even just as little sense emotionally, but the writers obviously were devoted to a certain ending and so they forced it to happen despite it making no sense. There's probably a dozen examples just like this throughout the show, most of the plot is driven by forced drama. Put that in juxtaposition with a show like Breaking Bad and it's just laughable how lazy the writing is compared to the well crafted and highly realistic and true to life flow of the plot from breaking bad, almost nothing is forced on BB and for the plot points driven by emotions like pride which can be tricky to pull off, they sell it well and so it doesn't come across as a writer phoning it in. There's a lot of moving parts in a show but the writing has to make sense no matter how well an actor is trained and experienced, they can't sell half assed writing and poorly constructed plots

What is interesting about this show is that Marty is the smartest one. He chose to be and stay with Wendy. Wendy is not a trophy and she like a lot of women can't take accountability but it is undeniable if you are watching the show has secured their future. After the cartel life. They are now powerful individuals in their fictional America and are example of how drug money secures positions in there America. (Mirroring our America of course. I have no proof that our politicians or people behind them are involved in the drug business but I pretty much just assume they are dirty. On some level they are dirty to me.) You just don't fuck with them.
