Marty, you've totally captured the rhythm of this song, whereas most of the other YT guitar teachers missed the mark.Thanks for sharing your insights.

Marty: The intro riff, at least in the Black Crowes version, has a major 3rd on the way up and a flat 3rd on the way back down. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIPGpJKFr7aVZ5Y

Hey Marty.... just wanted to finally pop in here and say hi, and big thanks!! You are the only reason I can play guitar to this day. I may not be great at it, but sure is a hell of a good time playing with the fellas in the garage on weekends!! Thanks again bruva!

Seems pretty easy when you show how it's done. I've been having a blast playing "Dream On", Hells Bells" and "Layla". You teach some awesome songs here Marty!.

So many lessons teaching a boogie woogie off the B. I knew my soul brother Marty would hear the hammer and funky hop to E I owe you tons for all the lessons the last decade Marty Funk. You taught me guitar. Period. I am playing out. Making money and the chicks love me. Prior to guitar I was standing in the corner alone having to pay for my drinks at the bar. Now I am a force MARTY funk.
@DavidHanson9157 жыл бұрын
Hi Marty. The first change in the intro is from a B note (which is correct the way you're doing it) to an E flat instead of a (incorrect) d note. So, the first four notes are B, Eb, E, F# instead of B, D, E, F# :)
@DavidHanson9157 жыл бұрын
However, when you come back down doing the pull-off it does rock back and forth between E and D as you are doing.

You gotta be kidding, I never knew that was Otis Reading! Otis did a much better job then the Black Crows and I love the Black Crows. Back in the early 90's I was a Metal only kind of kid and couldn't care less about R&B or anything else so I never cared to listen to anything outside of the box. I have been getting into a lot of R&B along with all 60's music in the last 15 years which is amazing - but I still never knew Otis did the original. Once again Mary thanks you so much! Kind of like Gold on the Ceiling by The Sweet:)

Good stuff, Marty! The Crowes are one of my favorites! Any chance you might do some lessons on some of their open G songs (Remedy, Twice as Hard, etc.)? Also been working on some Stones open G songs and thinking of leaving one of my guitars in that tuning permanently. So much fun to play those tunes.

Reminds me of a good buddy of mine n high school. After hearing me play, he decided he wanted to take up guitar too. He went out and bought a brand new Chet Atkins Super Ax to start off with, He sucked and never got the hang of playing, eventually giving it up, so he wasted his $$ for nothing. I guess he was thinking if he had a high $$ guitar that would someone make him play/sound better ..

Hey Marty, I need your help. I have a Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III and I recently just got an American Standard Strat. However, I don't have any guitar pedals, and I've been thinking about buying some. Do you think it would be worth it to sell the Les Paul to buy some guitar pedals for my Strat?

Almost Wayne -- because we are talking Bmaj as a key centre, we'd call that note D♯ not Eb -- you are totally right though. Marty plays it wrong (still) his 2011 video makes the same mistake too.
